Evil Party
Evil Party
I have just begun a new game with a Chaotic Evil Kensai Mage. I was wondering whether it would be best to take a Good Character like Minsk or Imoen with me, and dump them later, or do the dungeon on my own until i get another Evil guy.
Thought would be appreciated.

The alignment will come into play when your reputation starts to go up/down. Until then, it doesn't matter if your main character is evil but with good aligned characters. Imoen certainly wouldn't mind.

but it can be done, and if you are truly evil you would not associate with good aligned chars, unless you have good use for their dumb "goody two shoe" abileties , I say give it a try and if you fail you can always get Yoshimo or someone else while playing.....Originally posted by Stilgar
I would recommand taking one character with me, cause a kensai is very hard to solo through the starting dungeon

As Minerva says, alignment really doesn't matter save when reputation gets very high or very low. Unlike the Fallout games and Arcanum, you can't win by pursuing any sort of "evil" path. You wan't to avoid bringing "good" characters into your party? By all means, but you'll still take on a ton of goodie missions.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I assume you mean you are starting as a kensai fighter and plan to dual to mage at level 9 or higher. Here's some ideas you might want to consider. I would suggest you do the entire dungeon with just Immy. Tell Yoshi to go to the Copper Coronet. When ready to exit the dungeon rescue Jaheira and Minsc for some nice exp points and then load them up with all the expensive loot they can carry. This way you only share exp pts with Immy, she helps you past some sticky traps, and Jaheira and Minsc serve as pack horses for loot plus they can still be used later on if you think you want them again. As a TN, Jaheira is just as comfortable working with an evil person as she is with good people (she thinks both are out of 'balance'). She is more concerned with party reputation than alignments. For rapid advancement you could keep Jaheira and just have the two of you do all the quests. She will become a very good fighter and uber-druid quite rapidly. Save all the spells you find (even duplicates) and when you dual to mage you can read them all. If you have dupes, you can delete the memorized spell and relearn it for more exp pts. You should be able to advance through about 7-9 mage levels immediately with a two person party.
CHEESE ALERT: If you pick up Jan you can have him drink about 3 potions of Master Thievery and steal evey last scroll from the merchants (two in Waukeens, one in Bridge district at night only, some in Docks, etc.) Get his pickpocket skill up to at least 150 or better. As he wipes out the merchant's inventory move on to another merchant, the potions should last long enough to clean them all out). Don't forget to let Jan learn spells as well. For 100% spell memorization without failure set the game difficulty to easy while memorizing them. Also drink potions that raise INT so you can learn more spells than normally allowed. While he's pumped up have him pickpocket the owner of the Adventure's guild for a Ring of Regeneration and the cowled wizard in the Gov District that wants you to capture Valygar for a Ring of the Ram. Have him steal more potions of master thievery, scroll cases, jewel bags, and expensive equipment at the same time. Stolen items can be sold, restolen and resold to the thieves guild merchant in the Docks area. END CHEESE
If you want a predominantly evil party, neutrals like Jan (illusionist/thief) and Jaheira are good choices along with Korgy (evil berserker fighter) and Viconia (evil cleric). I would probably skip Edwin (evil necromancer) if I already had two mages in the party. Playing with a core 5 person party is nice as you can use the 6th spot to temporarily pick up other NPCs and help them with their quests. When the quest is over, dump them and move on to another. Also, you might want to pick up any new NPC right away, even if you don't really want them and then remove them again. This gets their quest clocks running (good for Anomen, Jan, etc.) so you can check back with them later and see if their quest has advanced. Don't do this with Korgy or Jaheira or anyone you intend to romance though. Korgy will charge you 500 gold to rejoin your party if you ever dump him and Jaheira will only stand for being kicked out of the party one time (the second time she is gone for good).
Keep in mind that even as an evil party you don't have to play the quests in an evil manner. Most often the rewards for the quest are less if played on the evil path. An evil party with a rep at 16 is manageable. There are plenty of ways to lower your rep by a couple of points (search the forum for ideas) if it gets to high and party members start to grumble.

Thanks a lot!!!
Didn't really think about it like that. I'll start again, and take your advice. So basically, recruit everyone whether I want to use them or not. Go through the dungeon with Imeon. Any other tips
