Problems with BGII on new machine

Post by jsteinha »

I was playing on AMD 1.3MHZ, Shuttle AK31 MOBO with GeForce2 video card and 2x128 266MHz DDR RAM, and it was quirky, but I was able to play.

Now, I am trying to play on new ABIT NF7-s v2.0 with Athlon 2600+ at 200x10.5=2100MHz (barely OC to use the 400MHz memory synchronously) and GeForce4 MX440 64MB 8x video with 2x512 PC3200 RAM, and while the graphics are slightly screwed, I can fix them, but I can not fix the big problem which follows.

Select a party member, and she will start using items in quickslots (drinking potions, casting spells) on her own, or something like selecting detect traps will do so and then instantly unselect itself. This happens regardless of the gameplay and graphics settings I choose. Is anyone familiar with this sort of problem, and can it be solved?

Go to the character record screen, click on Customize and then click on Script.

You will then have your choice of scripts for your characters to execute when the party A.I. is on.

I always set them to either passive or none so they won't get out of hand.
Jesus saves! And takes half damage!

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.

I think I have diagnosed the problem as a wireless mouse/keyboard

Which is a simple fix, but a PITA at the same time. It may be that my cordless receiver is tool close to the keyboard/mouse/monitor, but I have very little space. I'll just have to get a hardwired mouse for gameplay.
