Newbie help with quests. (probably not a Spoiler)

Post by MackeFi »

Hi, I'm pretty new with this game but I'm doing quite well.

Now, I have a little problem, or more of a question. I've done some quests in the big city and I totally forgot about the de'Arnise Keep & Windspear Hills quests. Well, the thing is now that I wounder which one of these quests are the most difficult and hardes to do? I'm not so high level and I'm not so very good on playing, but anyway. That's the first question, would be greatful for an answer discribing also why this is the easier one.

The second question is this. Jaheira died in a battle while she was cursed with that strange curse thing, when I try to raise dead with her she will die directly cause of the curse. What shall I do? Can I get her back?

THank you.

1# Wha quests you find hardest depends on you class and party. I dont now what I find hardest but i usually like to do D'Arnise keep since the loot is pretty good and you gain a lot of XP.

2# I never expirienced this myself but have you finished her curse quest? If you have then i dont know what to do exept kicking her.

Well most of the quests you get in Chapter 2 you should be able to do as you get 'em, and about Jaheira dying from the curse, It's one of few timed quests in the game as far as I know, and I've never let her die before so I really don't know what to do but you could try just doing whatever you were supposed to do with her before she died. And By the way who do you have in your party, because I never use her as she's pretty annoying because you might as well save yourself some agrivation and grab either Viconia or Cernd(I don't care what any of ya'll say shapeshifters are pretty damn cool, and I could care less about his past) for a healer.

Hey, welcome to the SoA forum :D

I will try to answer ure questions as best as possible.

1*= If you want to do the least hardest quest first, then I would advice you to do the D'Arnise Keep first, because the Windspear Hills are defenitly harder. So, unless you are a Paladin (who can get some very nice loot in the Windspear Hills) i would do the D'Arnise Keep first.

2*= This is a bug, which I havent heard of yet. I dont have any idea how to solve this.......The only advise I can give you, is to load an earlier save game and solve the Jaheira poison quest asap.

The Paladin stronghold quest (Windspear Hills), the Mage stronghold quest (Planar Sphere), and the Bard stronghold quest (Playhouse/Astral Prison) are definitely harder than the other stronghold quests. I usually save them for Chapter Six. I always do the Fighter stronghold quest (De'Arnise Keep) before any of the other major quests, then I do the Thief stronghold quest (talk to Renal Bloodscalp), and then if I'm up to it, I do the Cleric stronghold quest (Cult of the Unseeing Eye--a certain shield you can buy at the Adventurer's Mart makes it playable at almost any level). The Druid stronghold quest (Trademeet) and the Ranger stronghold quest (Umar Hills) aren't as difficult as the Paladin, Mage, or Bard quests. I usually do them in Chapter Six instead of Chapter Two just because I'd rather rescue Imoen first.

If you didn't cure Jaheira of her curse before she died, then I'm not sure you can save her without cheating. Are you willing to cheat to get her back, or would you rather say goodbye to her and get on with the game?

He seems to be new to the game. Don't tempt him into cheating... yet! ;) :D

In my first run through the game, when Jaheira died during a battle, I didn't know I could resurrect her, and threw her out of my party. That's all about new players...

Well, I haven't given him the cheat codes...yet. :)

MackeFi asked if there was a way to save Jaheira, and I gave him an honest answer ("probably not without cheating"). I made it clear that I was leaving it up to him whether he wanted to cheat. I have conflicting opinions on the subject myself. On the one hand, sometimes newbies deserve a second chance. It sounds like MackeFi is playing the game without using a walkthrough, which I admire, so maybe it wouldn't hurt to give him a little help. I didn't even meet Baron Ployer in my first game because I didn't do all of the quests. How many people can figure out what to do on their own? But on the other hand, everyone needs to live and learn and accept the consequences of their actions. So I think it is appropriate for you to discourage him from cheating. In any case, I don't want to force my opinions on anyone else. :)

Honestly, the first time is a real pain; and by first, I mean without a walkthrough, without knowing what your possibilities are, what you should or shouldn't do. I say it again: I didn't know I could resurrect a party member! Can you imagine?

As for the "cheating", you know I have conflicting opinions myself. What is cheating and what is not, it is open to interpretation.
It's just that when you enter the new world of a game, I think it best not to know these stuff. You enjoy it more by trying to develop your own tactics to beat the enemy. Then the reward seems sweeter. Then, again, this is a personal view, and of course no one has to agree with me.

P.S. I still have one of your old messages on the "cheating" subject. :)

Which one? Did I come down hard against cheating, or did I say I'm in favor of it? As you can tell, I'm ambivalent. :)

Neither. It just states your ambivalence, but I think it shows an inclination towards... a little cheating-which-is-not-being-considered-as-cheating. :D

And it was actually part of an e-mail, when you had made a Berseker/Cleric for me, last year.
