The hardest fight ever?

Post by Zandramas »

What do you guys consider the hardest fight in Bg1,TotSC,Bg2,Tob,and IWD?(IWD2 also but i don't have that yet so i dont know much about it)

I think the hardest single fight for me personally was somewhere in TOB. Propably Draconis.Ok Demogorgon would've been 3 times as hard but i covered him in cheese with my traps.

My most difficult fight was when I fought my very first dragon. I had no idea how to go about slaying dragons so I just hasted my party and tried to melee Firkaag to death. Imagine my surprise when that did not work! After a lot of failure I figured I'd come back after some leveling up but I never did..., not in that game anyway.

About six months after that ToB came out and I remember laughing out loud when I could choose a line in dialogue mode that went something like: 'Don't worry, I am quite used to slaying dragons by now.'

Let's keep the conversation limited to BG2, only, okay? If you want to do a crossover question, please put it down in the SYM (Speak Your Mind) forum, or the RPG one. Thanks. :)

For me, the most difficult was the first battle with Jon War...I beg your pardon, Irenicus. ;) Not because it was especially difficult, but because the limitations of the graphics and the 2D engine meant that with all those doubles it was a horrific mess figuring out who was who, and where they were standing.

Oooh, tough question. I guess the demon (tanari?) just outside the planar sphere in hell. It took me ages because my party just wasn't suited to do it, and he kept stunning everyone. It stayed hard when I redid the game the first two or three times, but the last time I did it it was a breeze. I can't see why though, I think I must have had better saving throws.

Most difficult battle for me was when I first fought Bodhi. I was terrifying just in the single thought that I had to go down the catacombs and face all those vampires. I guess it was mainly the psychological fear that made the battle difficult and my hands sweating.

Apart from that, all battles had been difficult, for I had never played such a game before. It had been a brand-new world...

My hardest fight would probably be my first fight against Firekraag........ I really got my ass wooped often that time. Perhaps I was to low level, or I simply was to rookie to understand what I was supposed to do.

Fortunatly I got some advice from Kevin Lynch.........he aso directed me to this site and its forum (for which Im mighty gratefull :p )
He really helped me get through.........after that, Firekraag never became that hard again.

The most difficult battles now, are the improved Bodhi and Irenicus (tactics Mod).......they really give me a hard time fighting them.....especially Irenicus in hell. But thats what makes the game interesting I guess......

I think my hardest fight was against the shadow dragon, Thasyliwhatever, because it was my first time through and my level was a bit low. But it was great fun :)

Lots of fights were very challenging--and fun--the first time I tried them. But they get much easier with practice and improved technique. That's one of the things that makes these games replayable.

The hardest "battle" for me was not a single encounter: I had a heck of a time clearing the streets of Suldanessellar the first time I played. I wanted to be a hero and do it all myself. (Not only that, I didn't realize what the Avatar of Rillifane could do.) The rakshasa and the demons were bad enough, but all of those golems, especially the adamantite golems, ate my lunch. 90% resistance to physical damage and 100% resistance to magic and elemental damage seemed like too much to deal with at the time. You couldn't just run through a door they couldn't fit through and kill them with missile weapons. Dragons (cast Breach and attack) seemed a lot easier to me.

The hardest fight for me was the secret portal in the bridge district ( rogue stone). I was too low level and didnt know I was being sent to a different plane. That lich killed me so fast.

Ah, I didn't mention that because I was thinking of the battles won. Please, don't remind me. They had killed me and my party over a dozen of times before deciding to proceed with the game and return later. Such humiliation!...

i believe my hardest fight was the first fight against improved bodhi.
was taking her on with a sorc, assassin and a monk :/
time and again i got my arse whipped.
i could take out her grimwarders with 1 blow, but i'd hardly have anything left for her, nor enough time to cast anything :o
finally i got her down to near death, only to find out she would cast heal and i had to start all over.

and without mods, i'm thinking my first fight with kangaxx.
ofc with cheese, kangaxx is piss easy :/
though i thought he'd just die the first time i killed him, so i cast all my spells on him :o bad idea :/

I agree with the first fight against improved Bodhi. I seemed to have an easier time of it even with undead Sola than the first fight in chapter 3. Had to resort to massive sunfire cheese. And even that took a couple reloads because of her heal.

But, since the topic was in all the series, and in respect to first time fights, I'd like to give recognition to Nimbul - the assassin who assaults you after the Nashkel mines. His boots of avoidance made him seem harder to hit than Drizzt with ranged weapons, which were the usual course of action for BGI. He liked to cast horror too, which fools like Khalid didn't even need to start running away. There were probably harder initial fights that I'm forgetting, but it was Nimbul that made me resort to a strategy guide for the first time.

The toughest time I ever had was the first time through the planar prison. Not knowing what to expect, I didn't bother resting first and went in without adequate spell resources. Plus, I kept stepping on the damn sphincters in the floor and having to fight the other prisoners.

the hardest opponent without any modz for me is for sure Draconis...... I always have a really hard time to beat him no matter how much cheese I use......

with modz...... hmm..... the improved rune is really hard but I'll have to go with improved Bodie......geeee how hard that battle is....

Twisted Rune. I just did this again last week & I realized the only time I have ever done it without cheese was with an obscenely high level Monk (24th I think). I think this is the only fight that I have always used cheese on. I have even beat Kangaxx without cheese.

Ah, yes, the Twisted Rune - that was the fight I lost the most.... I had to re-load and come back at higher level.

and Kangaxx...

they were much harder than Bohdi or Irenicus any time I fought them.
