Evil characters

Post by hobitfromhell »

I was just wondering, How many of you have used an all evil party? I tried one out, and am now in the yuan-ti temple.

I personally think that its a good idea. The stratagy guide on site is written from a good party's point of view, so somethings end up a little different. For one thing, your party is never affected by all the blasphamy and unholy blight spells. for example, with the caged fury quest, your characters don't take any damage from the shadow. also, you can do some cool evil things (like giving the dying soldier near oswalds airship the potion that causes a fireball. That was cool. :D )

also, you can make deals with npc's to let you go free, than kill them anyways; double-cross other npcs; a whole lot of other purely evil things that are fun to do.

My party currently stands at:
half-elf fighter/ranger lv 12/1
half-orc barbarian lv 13
half-elf thief lv 13
half-elf demarch of mask lv 13
ghostwise halfling evoker lv 13

(Just a little extra, I haven't had a character die since the fight with the druegar after the black raven monastary [the half-orc fell while single-handedly holding off the second part of the druegar force, the one with all the named npcs]. I am so happy.
:D

I play almost exclusively evil parties...

it is much fun...

but, it depends on what type of evil you like to play...

as a general rule, my party is chaotic evil... they kill anything and everything, as long as it helps them accomplish their personal goals...

more specifically, they use everybody they can, and then when they are through with them, they kill them all, and move on...

I try to look at the game from this perspective: although to a certain extent you are helping out the people of ten towns by eliminating Isair and Madae... in essence you are eliminating a serious threat to your own eventual rise to power... and by eliminating those people who have helped you to eliminate Isair and Madae, you are eliminating possible future threats to your own goals of power and conquest in the area...

ex: the wandering village makes you do a bunch of sidebar quests that help their village out before they give you the info you need to pass through the fell woods... I pretended to help them by completing all of those quests, and once I had the info I needed (how to pass thru the woods) I slaughtered them all because of the asinine errands they made me do before they would help me, and because I didnt want them to oppose my party in the future, after I had dealt with Isair and Madae...

an evil party does not have to kill first and ask questions later... a truly evil party will use and abuse everyone they come across, killing them only after they have outlived their usefulness.

I have not played IWD2 with an all evil party, and I have to say that from what I've read that it seems to be a very intriguing prospect. Maybe once I'm done with my soloing frenzy I will get down to coming up with an evil party of my own (Mmm. Evil.)

I totally agree with Krysalyn on the fact that evil is more impressive when it is manipulative. And yes, I have long wanted to kill the entire Wandering Village since they are ridiculously whiny, especially that Suoma woman. Grrr.

I'm also starting an evil party. I also think it will be more fun. I just haven't decided if I'm using the default evil party, or forming my own.

I don't think the game allows you to roleplay an chaotic-evil party.
For example:

Why would you help targos? For the reward??? Why not just kill the giver of the reward, and then take it. (gameover important chracter killed)

Why buy items from Deidre. Why not kill here and take them from here. (gameover important chracter killed)

And there are more of this sort examples.

But an evil party could be possible. I found out that for killing people you are supposed to rescue (For example Braston here at #5 you get 450 experience although he's and easy target, while for saving him you get 1200xp) So you won't miss alot xp on quests but gain alot for killing character that a good party wouldnt kill)
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
