Well, I'm at fields of slaughter (as you probably know). Everything in the game so far hasnt been that much of a challenge. But now everyhing is just ****ed up :/
I have a fighter with some axe and pala with avenger and a bard and a rogue and a sorc and a cleric all around level 15-16 i think.
Ok this is it, I face that lich and his foes, he immideately casts improved invisibility on himself. He is already stoneskinned. Than I try to cast the sphere thing but he absorbs it (stoneskin) I try to cast the plague thing but it has no affect on him or what so ever.
He casts Horrid Wilting and wail of banshee and I die die die. The elves aren't that hard but his invisibility never stops and he has lots of bad spells. WHAT shall I do!? PLEASE..
There are many ways to defeat M'darfien, here are a couple:
1. If you have enlisted the aid of the Dread Orcs, you can use them as buffers for his spells. Move your fastest character toward the lich's camp, and park the rest of your party where you first see the Dread Orcs. After the little scene with Saralon D'frayn wait til the first of the Elven Dread Warriors selects your guy to attack then run behind the approaching Dread Orcs. If you are fast enough, the elves should switch their targets and M'darfien will unleash Horrid Wilting and Wail and take the orcs out instead of you. Try to draw the elves away from the lich and take them down first. Once they are all dead, M'darfien should have exhausted a good deal of his lethal spells on the orcs. Close in and finish him off (you should have the patch installed or you are going to have a horrible time). If you have the Club of Disruption (Battle Squares) or the Hammer of Lucerne (Black Raven Monastery) these will help immensely, since most everyone in the Fields is undead.
2. You can use a bunch of heavy summons and push them as far to the front as possible, then trigger the cut scene. Move your fast character behind the wall of summons until all the elven dread warriors have selected your foremost creature. ORS that creature and while they swarm him, let loose with your area effect spells. You can also do this with a character if you are willing to sacrifice the xp.
3. Place your entire party far away from the lich's camp. Run your fastest character as far forward as he/she can to trigger the scene. After it finishes, run him backward to string out the elves, then loop him around toward the body of Saralon. Grab the Holy Water and run like hell toward the waterfall. Dump the water into the pool beneath the falls and it should kill everyone in the Fields of Slaughter, including M'darfien. (if you want you can cast Inv. on your runner so they won't detect him until he picks up the Holy Water)
