Just a general comment on something many people may not realize. Internet crime is a serious thing, and over the years it has come to be recognized for what it is: a crime. A website is very much the property of it's owner/administrators, for it is a defined space much like a plot of land is. Gamebanshee is Buck's space, which he pays to keep going. Much like a plot of land with a house built upon it, it requires upkeep and effort on the part of the owner to make it work. This translates into money and time.
For anyone who has difficulty understanding this - or Buck's position on keeping Gamebanshee free of unwanted disruption - imagine that this was your website, which you paid for. Would your feelings change, then? True, you may wish to run your house differently, but this is irrelevant to the comparison I'm making...for no matter what the rules of your house were, if someone entered breaking them, you would wish for them to stop.
Simply put, the statement to commit a crime is enough for action to be taken, particularly on the internet. Buck was well within his rights, IMO, in nipping a problem in the bud. What galls me the most, probably, is the utter lack of respect some people evidence towards other people's property. It's criminal, and past a certain point it can result in a person being dropped by their ISP.
Buck made GB for people to enjoy. Not only that, but SYM was a gift to GB members. It would be good for us all to keep this in mind.![]()
