Recharging enchanted items
Recharging enchanted items
I've noticed that when I recharge enchanted items that sometimes a petty soul gem will charge more than a GS gem. This would suggest to me a random pick by the computer. Can anyone verify this?

I have never use SG's to recharge - they will recharge on their own over time.

I've noticed this as well but I always attributed it to my intellegence and enchantanting levels. I figure its similar to enchanting simple rings with petty soul gems. While you may be able to pull this simple enchantment exercise off you fail with more powerful gems. It seems logical that the same would apply to recharging enchanted items. While you may be able to manipulate a petty or common soul gem to get a somewhat decent enchantment recharge at the same time you fail or do worse with a higher level gems due to your inexperience. Just my thoughts on why that happens. I don't even bother with recharging with anything more powerful than a common soul gem anymore.

Hmmm, I seem to get worse results when recharging with higher soul gems normally. But I also carry a nice enough array of weapons that if one is empty or low on charge I just use another.

Thx for the input Uncle Scratchy, that seems like a logical reason.
I have been doing the recharge thing with Azura's star a lot because that is the easiest way I know of to increase my enchantment skill level since I accidently killed the the master trainer
