Best Weapon

Post by The Z »

What's the best weapon (in your opinion), in Pool of Radiance 2? I can't comment because I'm still in the Deep Halls, but I'd like to hear from the experts what to be on the lookout from.

Well if you mean the best weapon out of the whole game I can't answer for that because, for reasons I've done my complaining about, the game has been put away. But my favorite weapon was the Heavy Chunk of Oak or whatever it is. I think it was +3/+3 double damage found in the main halls. It was super uber for where in the game you found it, and I think I used it for a good portion of the game.

In the entire game two weapons can relly make the different to the point that the game feels broken

1. Sacret Staff of Light: +7/X3 against drow ... to bad (probably good thing) you only find it deep into the drow catacombs though

2. The Draedsweord Daemoniac: Just uber :)

In the early part of the game (the dwarven Halls), I like a combination of Skuld's Crude Handled Chunk of Oak +3 (double damage vs. everything) and the Brewmaster's Cudgel +1 (triple damage vs. undead). I use this combination for a long time. Another favorite in the early game is the +2 Great Warhammer, which is +5 vs. undead. Finally, I use the Marshbane Dagger vs. Lizardfolk, since it does triple damage to them.

I don't know where they are found, exactly, but the walkthrough can tell you.

The other "great weapons" will show up later, but I don't want to spoil them for you. Remember to talk to Harldain Ironbar, if you have a monk in your party. He'll sell you something nice.

Personally, I have found the most enjoyable weapons to be the DeathSpike and the Sword of FlameStrike.
(Don't recall if those are the correct names, but you should get the idea of which ones I mean.

DeathSpike: Nothing like a level 10 fighter doing over 100 damage in a hit ;)

Sword of FlameStrike: Speaking as one with a halfling cleric in the group, it was a nice change from daggers!
