Freedom from Imprisonment (SPOILER)

Post by Hellbringer555 »

My high-level party was taking on Kangaxx, took out his lich form quick and easy. But, when he transformed into Demi-Lich, Mazzy was a wee bit too close and got Imprisoned. I took out the Demi-Lich, then, using the Freedom scroll I had stockpiled, I immediately freed her. But, whenever I try to talk to her to get her to rejoin, I get "Mazzy--has nothing to say to you." Any ideas why it's doing this, and how I can fix it?

Also... why is one of Crom Faeyr's abilities to slay Ettins in a single hit? I've only encountered a single Ettin to my knowledge, in the City of Caverns. I know it's supposedly a great Dwarven weapon, but wouldn't it be more Dwarven if it slayed giantkin, ogres, etc. in a single hit, instead of wasting the ability on a monster you meet only a single time, and that's AFTER you can forge the hammer!

Have you downloaded the latest patch from Bioware? This should fix your problem with having Mazzy being incapable of joining your party. If after installing the patch Mazzy is still not joining, you could enable key commands and Ctrl + Q here into your party.

Crom can also slay stone golems, clay golems, and trolls on the first hit. A little better than the ettins, but just barely... perhaps they had it only capable of slaying these creatures to keep crom would become even more overpowered. I mean, the hammer grants you 25 strength - at that point, I could care less about what else it does ;) .

How do you enable key commands, or is this something that's on by default?

To enable key commands, you first need to go to the Baldur's Gate II directory (in My Computer) and you then need to go into the 'baldur.ini' file (it looks like a notepad type thingy), which should open a document in notepad. In the document, under 'Program Options', you should a bunch of settings, such as BitsPerPixel=16 and Acceleration=0. Under the Program Options heading, type in a new line 'DebugMode=1' (without the quotes), and save the changes. Load your game, and enable the cheat prompt by pressing ctrl + space. Type into the prompt, exactly as I type it, 'CLUAConsole:EnableKeyCheats()', without the quotes, and hit enter. You should now be able to use key cheats, and to ctrl + Q Mazzy back into your party. Hope this helps!

Actually, there are a couple more ettins in the Paladin stronghold quest. Not that that invalidates your point.
