Names of Tales

Post by Odin »

I know this may sound silly, but I am in search for a better name. I need a name that sounds nice, is mythologic, baldurs gate style.Maybe something like Irnecus (dont remember his name right now). Why am I doing this you might ask. The reason is simpel. The name have always ment alot to me. Without a good name, no good game...
So if you could just guide me in the right direction, that would be nice. Ill always end up with a name that sounded good at the time, but just sound dumb afterwards...

Odin's alright it is better than Demise or Blademaster.

I once - in Icewind Dale - named my entire party after words for death, demise, quietus etc.

I always use Desdicado for my main guy.
I sometimes use names out of Lord of the Rings too, Aragorn, Elessar, Isildur etc
Some historical ones work, Veringetorix, Viridovix for Barbarians etc. You can always resort to latin?. Maximus etc.

I always use ancient Greek names (in parenthesis the known name by English speaking countries):Axilleas (Achilles),Artemis (Latin :D iana-female name),Odysseas (Ulysses),Hraklis (Hercules),Poseidon,Dias (Zeus) etc.But i don't think you are going to use name like these, they sound very strange indeed for not those familiar with ancient Greek legends.
It would be a good idea to use names from your country's legends.

I always use stupid names (though mostly 2 instead of 1 like Aerie, Minsc etc.), like Bordin Steelaxe, Sheila Shadowwalker, Sheila Mirdaroh, Ling Yung (the last 2 are DII characters Image, the following are from D2, too) Zyxh, Lombre and Moloch...

Cool names, aye? I love the name Zyxh, don't know how I came up with that one, many asked me, if it was a typo Image

Hmmmmm...name the character..yeah that will be a pain like naming your own child :P
BTW i always use KidD01for my main char. For some occasions i use some destructive names like Wreak Havoc, Devil, and etc. I guess I have same idea like Sleepy.
BTW i'm playing a new game with a new char names Sarevok (a Kensai) these days. It's very funny every time Imoen talk to me and called my name...like there's nothing happen on BG1 with Sarevok. I haven't encounter Sarevok Spirit (i.e. in the Hell) but i'll post if something funny happen.
Anyone try Elminster name or others ?

Any ideas what might happen to a hero called Bhaal? Bodhi? Irenicus?

Sarevok and Drizzt are already playing ...

What of the characters from the DragoLance saga, considering the Solemnia Knights you encounter in the sphere: Sturm Brightblade, Goldmoon, Raistlin, Caramon, Tasselhoff Burrfoot, Tanis, ...?

if you try Drizzt, he will come for you during the game and attack, claiming, that you stole not only his items, but also his name.

That almost sounds like you did steal his items, hey he has a right to be pissed what if you are a chotic evil character and your running around killing elves.
