Which? Is them Telvanni good? They are the least popular, but are their missions interesting? I didn't really like Hlaalu 'cause I'm a bad sneak...

i joined house hlaalu, becuase it was the first one ii came across, in balmora in the beginning of the game. later i found out that duke dren was in house hlaalu bfore he was ranked duke, and after doin a couple quests for him, i got to be the big daddy of house hlaalu, grandmaster.i think house hlaalu is good, but thats my opinion.

Warning spoilers

Personally I have joined each house done all their quests, become the grandmaster and have a stronghold here are my comements about each one.

Hlaalu

Best for the Stealth class
Easy to travel to
An okay stronghold

Redoran

Best for Combat class
most storage space
better than average looking stronghold

Telvanni

Best for Magic class
farthest away from any city
coolest looking (It's also guarded by centuaron guards!)

My favorite is the telvanni although it is unorthadox and nearly a quarter of the map away from any city it lookd pretty cool. Note there is a bug in some games that may prevent you from becoming the grandmaster. When you reach the rank of wizard don't ask for any more advancement just kill the Archmagister and keep doing chores. Eventually when you ask for more chores the guy will be "ready to declare you archmagister". Anyway remember it's always a good Idea to have more than one character then you can join them all!

But I've already joined the Mages Guild. I really want to join the Telvanni but these two factions aren't too friendly with each other. :D Can I still join?

Yes, you can still join. Since I always join every faction and guild it really doesn't matter which house I pick. I just rotate through them to keep the games interesting.

Regarding the original question, I personnally don't think the "cool" looking Telvanni stronghold is worth it - lousy storage, inconvienient location, lame always in the way centurian guards, etc. Then again I don't really see the point in having a stronghold at all when you can just pick a nice house in Balmora or Caldera and use it for storage. I think the Redoran stronghold has the best storage while the Hlaalu stronghold has the best location.

i downloaded the rethan manor mod, which gave me a really nice stronghold with lots of storage and armor display figures.
the location is a little ways from balmora, near a eggmine(not closest one, but the one after, again i dont really memorize names)
PS this is when u join hlaalu but theres a cheat that lets u join all three(dont really know it, just heard of it)

Spoiler

If you want to be lame and check out each stronghold for yourself use the counsel.

StartScript Strong_Build3_T
StartScript Strong_Build3_H
StartScript Strong_Build3_R

Note: You may have to wait a bit for the strongholds to finish. These might not be the exact commands, so if they don't work look in those scripts for the exact command.

Cheers

Actually rn, you don't have to do this, because each House tells you to go and kill the people in the other strongholds because they have been built illegally. That way you will get to see what the other strongholds look like an can use them as well; so in fact you have 3 strongholds not just 1.

Yes but the strongholds are only in their second stage, not completed version.

True, but still allows me to be head of Telvanni with a stronghold in the middle of nowhere and have another on the Odai Plateau near where I normally do business.
