Boots of speed

minor spoiler perhaps

I picked up the boots of speed rather early in the game and noticed that somewhere around chapter 5 they stopped working, my character moves at normal speed again. I am on chapter 7 now and its not a big deal but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? The walkthrough says you meet a theif who asks you to find his boots who I never met, not that it matters because I would rather keep the boots( if they worked that is). TIA

you might be wearing the ring of free action or maybe using the spider's bane....... if so then the boots will be cancelled out by the effect that comes with those two items..... other than that I can't think of anything that could do this...

And the guy that want you to find his boots wants a different kind of boots. I think they are boots of stealth, which are only useful to thieves and rangers.

IIRC there is a way to use both the ring and the boots...... if you equip the ring first and then the boots I think you should be speedy and unstoppable

not sure though as I'm just entering the cloakwood in my current game

Other way around: equip the boots first, then the ring. Equiping the ring disables all movement-related effects, but it won't dispel previously existing enhancements.
