Li Mu Bai vs. Jen Yu fighting amidst the bamboo trees in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

The Clone War sequence at the end of Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones simply because of its technological magnificence; almost everything in the scenes is CGI, not one clone trooper suit was ever made plus it has the Yoda vs. Dooku fight
Jesus saves! And takes half damage!

Isn't that the point of movies? :D

It's more of a car chase, but I suppose it counts: The final road battle in Mad Max 2. Possibly the best car chase in cinematic history.

...I think that Ronin is thumbs up.

Fight scenes: Those that HLD mentioned...

...plus that great street gunfight in Heat starring Robert de Niro and Val Kilmer.

On epic battle scenes...

...Braveheart and Patriot starring Mel Gibson...

...but at SYM...

...that would be Weasel and Waverly: The Battle for Minerva. :D

Agreed! That is great. Kurosawa created an amazing sense of "focused chaos," and without resorting to the now-cliched trick of using a handheld camera to simulate frenetic activity.

Remember, too, the scene of the duel between the samurai Kyuzo, who is interested only in refining his art, and another samurai who refuses to acknowledge his superiority at swordsmanship. Or Kikuchiyo rising with a mortal wound from a gun, stumbling to kill the terrified bandit chieftain before collapsing on top of him? The Seven Samurai is one of the few films I've seen that has an enormous richness and depth for the real student of cinema, while still providing a thrilling experience for the casual viewer. Kurosawa rules. :)

Oh a big forgotten mention...

Every single time they tried to take the hill, most memorably the last time, in the movie Hamburger Hill.

This might not qualify as a honest to goodness battle scene (since there were chases in between), but I really liked the entire Mines of Moira (sp) section of LotR 1.

The battle scene in Aliens where the marines make first contact with the aliens on LV-426. It's good chaos from finding the survivor who has an alien gestating in her belly to the final one Ripley runs over after gathering the remnants of the platoon.

The battle with the queen and Ripley in the manual dock loader is pretty sweet as well.

In Street Fighter II (hte manga one)
The final fight with Ken and Ryu vs Bison......great fighting.

Of course there also are other great scenes......like the LotR battles ( I especially like the fights in part 2 )
Then theres the fighting scene in the Matrix reloaded, when Neo fights all the agent smiths.

Ohh yeah, the last fight in the Bruce Lee story (well second last).....when Bruce fights the dishonoured brother, thats quick moving.

And I allmost forgot one.....the last battle in Saving Private Ryan....when they have to defend the bridge. I loved the sniper...

Actually.......there are alot of great movie battle scenes :p :D
