twisted rune question (spoilers)

i decided to give my solo sorc a challenge so i sent him to get the staff of the magi. After i had barely mandged to kill the mage and beholder i was at 1 hp and ran, so my question is can i come back sometime later, like after i finished underdark and finish the other guys?

You can't go back, you have to do it now or never. Anyways, that area gives a ton of exp. I would go back before that, get tougher and retry it.

I think I actually have gone back after opening the gate with the beholder eye from the inside; it'll cost you another rogue stone, though, IIRC. But I did it a while ago and it was kind of an accident, after I killed everyone already. Otherwise another way is to power up a bit more and come back later.
