Dark Lords
I think the Emperor is the one most disturbing dark sider ever, but I think the strongest in the dark side goes to Revan or Exar Kun, both showed great reslove through the dark. Exar Kun who existed out of body for a very long time in order to attack Luke with such power. Revan for if he/she did ultimently return to the dark side it would show that even if it was completely cleansed of the dark side by the jedi that it was so strong in Revan that the slightest notion of it returned the power of the dark side to him/her. Bane gave the dark siders the title "darth" and made the rule of 2 so no one could contest power, I'd rather have the power contested to know exactly who is strong. Maybe he was afraid for himself, which is why the poor man hid in the shadows of a remote world.

He created the tradition of two because the struggle to see who was strongest nearly destroyed the Sith tradition entirely. He was the only Sith Lord to survive the Thought Bomb set off by one of his compatriots, it killed all the rest. He created the tradition to save it from itself.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
It’s a hard decision, but Id would have to go with Darth Malak just out of his shear brutishness, he was thoughtless, reckless and had the tact of Bantha fodder. He destroyed everything that stood in his way regardless of the scale of destruction...I guess the same could be said of Vader but he was more focused in his destruction (that and he actually had some good in him, a true weakness).
Reven, Sidious, and Dooku where all great visionaries and tacticians who all had Grand plans of total dominance over the universe….but they always left it up to the yings of there yangs (so to speak…In my opinion) to do the work. And Maul was nothing but a Mule. He carried the darkside that was forged in him like a tool…but it was only a tool of his master, who led him around like puppet, eventually to his death.
I think Bane should have been one of the choices (though I wouldn’t pick him), but he was the sole survivor of the thought bomb and the creator of the new order of Sith. This action itself preserved the Sith for the next millennium and beyond so that chaos and anarchy could be raged throughout the universe…Causing untold destruction, pain, and misery for all to winess!! BWA HA HA HA HA!!!

One thing that downsides the mass destruction is when the Emperor and Malak will eliminate their own men for a single failure. In the next battle they must wonder, could this battle be won if I still had that man I killed in command of the my fleet? Revan being a master of war time tactics didn't need to rely upon that, another strong point for Revan.
Bane never actually had to slaughter countless people. I find it hard to see him as a dark sider let alone the most wicked sith. He created a philosophy, big deal.....doesn't matter what the purposes for the philosophy is he never carried them out. Kind of hard to hold him responsible for something that happened 1,000 years after his death.
