so what do you guys think?

Post by humanflyz »

I saw this game at my local store for ten bucks, so I was tempted to pick it up and just try it out. But then I heard about all the horror stories on the Internet about how extremely buggy the game is and how flawed the design is. However, I am a fan of the old POR, so I just want to try it out anyways.

So, any suggestions or recommendations for or against my buying this game? Is the game really THAT buggy or bad? A brief review of the game would be fine, or your opinions. Thank you.

Well i would recommend to try the game... it's not the best game around but it a failry good game.

A few pointers though, yes the game was very buggy and in some cases caused problems to people's PCs but with the last patch most of the bugs were fixed.

About the game itself, it was the first effort on 3rd edition D&D rules and though it was a good implementation it could have been better. It's a turned based combat system pretty linear story and a vast amount of items to find and use to a point that causes a headache. :)
On the other side it's mostly hack and slash in big almost identical dungeons, a not so friendly inteface and a slow gameplay.

But for 10 bucks i guess you have nothing to lose. :)

@Demis:

Sounds decent for ten bucks, so I'll just go out and pick it up today and try it out. Also, another question, is it party-based like BG series or solo like NWN?

Party based. You can create up to 4 PCs at the biginnning and you can also recruit several NPCs in the way.

10 bucks 9 too many..lol

For 10 bucks if you have allot and I do mean allot of just good ole time to kill then get it. As for the bugs, I got the latest 1.4 patch and installed and if that got out most of the bugs then they had to be in the thousands because there is still enough bugs to frustrate the easiest going gamer. Good idea the game was just not executed well by any stretch of the imagination.
Gotta feel sorry for those that paid full price when new. hmm 3 yrs old and 10 bucks - kinda tells you something right there.

My sis bought it a year ago for 10 bucks, too. I played it once - and although it was nice, I don't feel motivated enough to get the CD from the shelve in order to play it again. :rolleyes:
