The game has an "experience cap" which is keeping your Paladin from reaching 18th Level. Once you reach 2,950,000 experience points, you stop earning experience points; your experience stays at 2,950,000 for the rest of the game.

You can easily disable the experience cap by using a hack. For example, there's a small file that you can download and place in your /OVERRIDE directory. I don't have a link to it, but you're on the internet and it shouldn't be too hard to find. :)

crawlie, do you have the Throne of Bhaal expansion installed? That increases the exp. cap of the game so that you could achieve higher levels than that. (IRL, can't find the ToB manual anywhere). Maybe someone else could list what the Exp. cap is for the expansion for me? :o

Still, If I remember right, the max level for Paladins in the expansion is lvl 28, as well as for Rangers and, if I remember right, fighters and barbarian get up to 40. Clerics and Monks can achieve up to the 27th level, druids up to 17, 30th for thieves and bards, and Wizards/Sorcerors achieve 26th as their last level. These details are quite sketchy, and so I don't doubt I'm wrong with most of this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There are several places you can get the Exp Cap remover, but Baldurdash is probably the easiest to find. A lot of other good stuff there as well...
