Well, I got the okay to do this from fable, so I'll give it a shot.
Seeing as how we all can relate to the Forgotten Realms and Dungeons & Dragons when it comes to character creation and depth of personality, why don't we try and think up what we would be? You can make one character or a party made of different parts of yourself.
Me, for example, I would have a party like this, in 3rd Edition
Galuf the Dwarf
Neutral Good
Gold Dwarf
Male
Bard
10 Str
16 Dex
12 Con
16 Int
8 Wis
16 Cha
I'm decent around people, with rather strong (though impulsive) personality and intellect. My eyes catch things about as quick as my hands, generally when it comes to details of objects and surroundings.
Flaudia
Lawful Neutral
Human
Female
Druid
10 Str
10 Dex
12 Con
12 Int
18 Wis
14 Cha
A rather cryptic individual, often seeming to concentrate on something that isn't physically there. She has quite an affinity to animals, and almost prefers at times to wish to be one instead of being an ordinary human. She can stand to be around people, though her patience has a limit, especially when the complexity of civilized life comes alive.
Haerdaq
Chaotic Good
Half-Orc
Male
Barbarian
18 Str
12 Dex
16 Con
10 Int
12 Wis
6 Cha
A loathsome individual, he prefers to quell his fury in the face of adversity, so that none others will suffer at the hand of anger. He likes to see smiles on the faces of those that are freed by his actions, which speak for him rather than his words. He exited his tribe to see for himself what the world was like. He may not be the TOUGHEST of all warriors in his tribal home, but his will to fight what he sees throughout the world is enough to make him seem a threat to those who oppose him.
Mordaine
Lawful Good
Human
Watcher of Helm
10 Str
10 Dex
12 Con
10 Int
18 Wis
16 Cha
A vigilant seer of what goes on, this priest will not stop until all that brings safety to the innocent is laid upon them. He wants every problem that a person has to be solved, whether by marching in to a situation and delegating, or healing by the whim of the restless guardian god he serves. He'll combat spells, spirits, and hell-spawn alike if only to save even the simplest of things from agony. Though he may seem a little misdirected in his simple crusades of security, his ultimate wish to feel benevolence and true accomplishment in his veins.
Grindle
Chaotic Neutral
Lightfoot Halfling
Female
Rogue
8 Str
20 Dex
12 Con
18 Int
6 Wis
12 Cha
A rather wiley girl, she revels in finding interesting things: objects, traps, etcetera. She loves treasure, and to take more than she is meant to. She'll pick locks, disarm anything that can come to harm, if only to make her way to some trinkets. It's not that she'll harm individuals for them, but if anything isn't too precious, she'll be glad to take it off of them. Treasure is about as necessary to her well-being as is food and rest, and without it, she's not herself.
Aielia
True Neutral
Moon Elf
Female
Wizard
10 Str
18 Dex
10 Con
18 Int
10 Wis
10 Cha
This elf is not without a thought to whatever she sees. Whether it's an arcane phrase she tries to decipher, or why leaves turn colors in autumn, she seeks knowledge in order to pave the way to a complete understanding of all. She prefers knowledge of whatever to honor and victory. Though, if that gets in the way, she'll do what it takes. For her, getting there is only half the fun. She absorbs facts like a sponge, and utilizes what she gains to advantages in the future, if it be strategy, or understanding magic, or even just knowing why she exists. Facts dominate her, and she works at their whim.
Well, what about any of you?

Dungeon Crawl Inc.: It's the most fun you can have without 3 midgets and a whip! Character stats made by your's truly!
Me?
Lawful Good - with Chaotic tendencies. I live by the Islamic moral code, thus an eye for eye. You kill I kill you, but that isnt the Lawful good approach from AD&D.
Str: 11 - i am a weakling
Dex: 13 - play cricket so i am pretty quick on my feet and with my hands
Con: 11 - over-weight and unhealty not in shape
Int: 14 - reatively smart
Wis: 13 - i got enough wisdom so when i mess up i know it
Cha: 14 - what can i say i am a natural born charmer

I'd be a chaotic nuetral bard or ranger. I won't take a stab at my stats, if I put down what I am IRL you all would think I was a cheater
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach
ie you cant have an int of 30.

I'm definitely Neutral Good. I'd probably be a Thief with stats similar to Imoen's (maybe a little stronger and less remarkable in some of the other stats). I'm not inclined to steal from people, but if I lived in a world of adventure, I'd use stealth, backstabbing, traps, finesse, and as many tricks as I could think of to defeat my enemies, and I'd want to disarm traps and open locks myself, so I would probably learn a lot of thieving skills. In real life, I consider my gender, my personality, my looks, and my brains to be terrific assets (my dad, who has been in the insurance business and the real estate business, used to have me butter up his clients), but a lot of people have tried to steer me into things that could benefit themselves (but not necessarily me), so I'm very wary of other people's plans for me. I'd want to be a champion for those in need, but at the same time, I wouldn't want to draw a lot of attention to myself, so I'd probably want to join a run-of-the-mill adventuring party instead of a really famous one. I don't think I'd want to be the leader of the group, but I'd probably end up trying to boss everyone around and trying to get my way, anyway.
In real life, I have some fighting skills (Tae Kwon Do, Jiu-Jitsu, fencing, and archery), so I figure I could really learn how to fight if I needed to, but I lack the brawn and ego required to be a Fighter. I might dabble in magic, but I don't think I could endure being the apprentice of some Mage who's full of himself (I don't enjoy scrubbing floors, especially not for some big jerk). I don't think I have the devotion required to be a Cleric or a Monk, and I don't love the outdoors and animals enough to be a Ranger (being a Druid is out of the question). So as strange as it may seem, I'd probably end up in the thieving profession, although I can't see myself joining (or running) a Thieves Guild. My boyfriend would probably be a Sorcerer or a Wild Mage.
When it comes to adventuring, I don't know how much risk and danger I'd be willing to face, and my greed and ambition are fairly modest, so I can't see myself being the greatest adventurer who ever lived. So I honestly don't know how much adventuring I would really want to do.
Of course, when this question was asked a couple of years ago on a big message board that no longer exists, there was one person who gave an honest answer: "I'd probably be an inventory clerk at the Adventurer's Mart."

chaotic good human fighter, though i dont have almost any fighting experience irl, i could learn, and having more brawn than brains is better, in that case. I'd dual wield long swords and train my skills in them as far as i can. I've always wanted to be the frontier fighter that keeps the sexy elven female mages safe at the back
str 16- hard to say, how much it would be, just an estimate
dex 15- although i'm big (6'1) i'm rather fast at my feet
con 14- i'm in relatively good shape, i play soccer and watch what i eat (atleast sometimes)
int 11- not my strongest point
wis 10- i've had difficulties of knowing when to shut up
chr 14- i've always been the one who makes ppl laugh and i ain't too bad looking.

To be a lich? Oh, this is too good an opportunity not to slightly misquote from the text of Horrortorio, part of the 1961 Hoffnung Asdtronautical Music Festival (in which classical music kicked up its heels). Note, this is a deliberate mangling of an annoyingly uplifting poem (entitled "If") by Kipling:
If you can hurt and not make pain your master,
If you can kill and not make death your aim;
If you can meet with horror and disaster
And treat these two amusements just the same,
If you can fill each unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of fiendish fun,
Yours is the earth and everyone that's in it,
And what's more, you'll be a Lich, my son...!
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
