Character Preference

Post by haza12d »

Hey there all! I'm kind of a noob on the KOTOR scene, just got the game 2 days ago. So before I get really into it and get any further, I just wanted to know what the best character class is and what attributes you'd start 'em off with. Thanks.

There is no best, its all a matter of preference. If you just want to play through the game hacking and slashing your way then I suggest a Soldier, if you want to go the other way and use a scoundrel you get more skills and can do things like hack into computer security systems and activate droids to help you. The scout is in between if you want to do a little of both confrontation and evasion skills.

The Jedi classes are also similar. The Guardian class is like the soldier and specializes in melee fighting. The consular focuses less on physical combat but has more force powers. And the Sentinel is in between the other two.

I prefer Soldier/Guardian because as a melee fighter I don't have to pause as often to choose feats/powers and it makes the fights more cinematic.

Hope I helped. :D

Personally, I prefer to play with a soundrel over a soldier. When I played the game as a soldier, I kept having to switch to one of my other characters to disable a mine or slice a computer, or even pick a lock. It got tedious. When I played as a scoundrl, I was a much better fighter than the NPC scoundrel in my party, and I could just fill the empty party slots with soldiers, if I wished. But when I was a soldier, I had to have the weaker scoundral in my party to do computer related tasks, making the party weaker overall. My preference is to be a well-rounded scoundrel and fill my party with good fighters and support their efforts with force powers and healing. I haven't played as a scout yet; that's next on the agenda...
I know you... A pace, a glance, a turn of the head, the flash of your throat as you breathe... -- they were all my spies!
