Darn, I was going to say Celestial Fury, Hmmmm.. Then I would have to say "Blade of the Roses"(Long Sword +3) or "Adjatha the Drinker"(Long sword +2) or maybe the "Scarlet Ninja-to" (+3)

Can you be more specific in terms of the kind of weapon? (Katana, long sword etc) Then I can give you somemore

Pixy prick +3 and the Staletto of the Demiarches(sp) are both good. They have some good save vs. abilities.

Only backstab w/ stuff that has as low a speed factor as possible.

Well, so far I'm proficient in daggers and shortsword. Would like something high damaging or poisoning. I thought you were supposed to get the short sword of backstabbing after killing Mae Var? I never got it.

After you kill Mae'Var, Renal Bloodscalp offers you to take over Mae'Var's guild (if you are a thief).. if you decline he gives you the sword insted... you cant have both without cheating.

Pixie prick +3 or Cuttrhoat or the short sword of backstabbing. If you really don't want CF. ;)

Well this might work w/o killing Renal. Just pick-pocket it from him with a few master thievery potions it should work. I also like the cutthroat, but you can't get it until chapter 6.

@Cavalizer,
You can backstab with any THIEF-allowed weapon, not only "piercing" wpns...
As for assassin's weapon, I'll go definitely for Scarlet Ninja-To...1 more attack/round AND Poison !!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Scarlet Ninja-To a Monks only weapon? Of course, that doesn't matter if you have Use Any Item, but the person asking apparently doesn't or else he could use Neb's Nasty Cutter.

You cannot backstab with quarterstaff (the staff of magi).

The best weapon for thief would be Anguvadal +5. Grants user 22 strength, +5 enchantment, negative plane protection and zero speed factor .

Other weapons you could think of; Dagger of the stars +5: 15% invisibility, zero speed factor, piercing damage.
Short sword of mask +5 (15% entangle, zero speed factor)

Hope this helps :)

I would like to recommend an outsider: the +2 short sword Kundane, found during Haer'Dalis' quest. It will give you an extra attack even though the description doesn't say so. This is worth more than the additional damage of other weapons. You're already able to poison your weapon yourself. Now, what you need most is to hit your ennemy with that poisoned weapon. Kundane gives you double chances...

I also like the Pixie Prick (obtained during the same quest). A good dagger that you can get early. Ennemies normally saves but it's a nice bonus when they don't...

The very best weapon is probably the dagger belonging to Artemis Entreri (you can CLUA Console him in and fight him for it, or simply use the ShadowKeeper). Since I'm at work, I can't give you the stats of the dagger (I believe it's a +4 or +5 and it has got level draining abilities).
