A Latecomer asks for end Ch. 3 party help

Post by FedericoZ »

OK - I am going through BGII for the first time and I am currently in Chapter 3 with the following party:

Federico (Fighter/Thief)-DayStar/DragonSlayer

Minsc - Sarevok's Sword/Elven Court Bow
Keldorn - Carsomyr/Hvy Crossbow of Accuracy
Jahiera - Scimitar+1/Sling+2
Aerie - Sling of Everard/Staff of Curing
Anomen - Flail of Ages/Sling of Seeking

So, here is the question - what do you think I should do about my spellcasters?

I absolutely will have Imoen back in my party, when I rescue her. I was pursuing the Jahiera romance, but I think I screwed it up (she just called me an idiot after the bandit encounter).

I like my melee guys. Minsc and Keldorn usually get off a few shots before joining me in the 'Butt Kicking for Goodness'.

But, when I re-invite Imoen, I have a dilemma. Who would you keep (or add, as I just met Viconia and Jan) and who would you get rid of? I am obviously looking for the best mix of roleplaying versus powergaming.

Thanks!
Federico

Sorry to say this but you can't romance imoen. If that's the reaseon you wanted to take her.
I would dumb Jaheira, or amonom, cause you have 3cleric's.And take yoshimo to spellhold (you'll find out why, trust me), and in spellhold dumb yoshimo and take imoen she's one of the best mages in the game, and you can always romance Aery.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Bye the way, try looking in the slums sewers (get in in the copper cornet) for a better 2handedsword for minsc.

The'rs a riddle to solve and you get licidor (2handed +3 that talks)
you nead the hand (in the room with the weird creature), the ring (skeletons) the blood (crawler) and the staff (goblim shaman) to solve the riddle

Stilgar -

I know, you can't romance Imoen...although, it is a thought! She is mandatory for my party, though, as she made it all the way through BGI with my character.

As for Minsc's sword...he had Lilacor for a while, but it was annoying me. I'll live for now, as he uses the Staff of Rhyn as a backup when that sword is ineffective.

Really, my question is:

Considering Imoen as a giving, what two spellcasters would you fill out the party with? Especially since I am leaning toward keeping Jahiera (as long as the romance script is still going forward). Would you go Cleric (Anomen or Viconia), Mage (Jan or Nalia - I will be killing Edwin soon) or Aerie for a mix? Or, is there someone that I have not mentioned?

Thanks for the help!

I had very good experiences with Jaheira Aery and Jan in my party, and later trade jan for imoen.
You have a "good" party so i wouldn't go for viconia or edwin.
I find more use in mages then in cleric's, so I would go for:

You
Minsc
Keldorn
Jaheira
Aery

And trade Amonem before you go to spellhold for Yoshimo, and in spellhold take imoen.
(By taking Yoshimo you'll get some extra experience)

BTW I woul give Jaheira de clubb you get in the druid quest (don't now the name) but it dous a short of poisen damage (sliver or something) i realy love that weapon, cause jaheira can do so much more than a Semitar+2 (how about spears, you'll find some great ones later on in the game) (you allready have the staff of ryn, that's also a great weapon for her)

I hope this helps....
