SPOILER!!! Imp. final battle

Post by Perroxx »

Ok, this is a major spoiler about SoA final, so stop read now if you've not finished it yet...

So, once again I played through the game and woke up in hell (no, not me personally...) but this time Irenicus didn't just summon the demons, but raised Sarevok, the Pride dragon and some more...

furthermore he spawned again when I finally finished him off and now he's really tough...
I guess it's in one of the mods, but does anyone know in which one? And can I just uninstall this improved fight w/o having to play through it again?

Yes, you have downloaded the Famous Weimer's Tactics mod, which includes Improved Irenicus' final battle.

To uninstall, simply uninstall the mod in your SoA folder and revert to an earlier save. That should do the trick.

The fight...

Oddly, enough, I'm just doing that fight myself - just got to it last night. Youch! I've tried it once through & got my head handed to me pretty handily.

Improved Ireniicus is one of the components of the tactics mod, and can be uninstalled individually, I believe.

If you have a save from before, you should be able to just reload the fight - probably you'll only have to go back to the end of chapter 6, because the Jon on the tree of life is not modified at all, as far as I can see.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

Buff, Slayer, Repeat, Buff, Slayer, Repeat.

Also, if you can get away with it, cast a Time Stop(Spell or Scroll) and wail away on him Slayerized. Also, auto-pausing is your friend. Open the flood gates and let loose the many, many pausings. This will give you the needed time to wage your battle step-by-step, and possibly get any needed spells cast, or at least about to be cast.

And don't be afraid to let your Slayer go it alone for a bit to let your casters get off thier spells. It is very tough, and if hasted, is incredibly fast.

Also, when you kill Irenicus the first time think of this as something of a breather. I'm sure you can't rest, but cast some healing on yourself, and drink potions like mad before you take him on again, and get off all your buffs. Fortunately, I've never encountered any additional minions of his on the second fight because I kicked his butt right-quick. You might also thin kabout summoning your own minions. Mordekainen's Sword comes to mind. Nearly invincible, powerful, and oh so distracting. ;)

Another good tactic for the second fight is see if you can't hit him with a few Melf's Acid Arrows and get him acidized and unable to cast anything successfully.

Then again, I don't use Mods, so you can ignore all that I just put down as the ramblings of a know-it-all-bastard. :D
Itch. It itches to feel you cleave to the song of my mettle,
to yield and surrender in nearly every way;
if not in all the important ways.

yeah, but my sorc were all out of spells when little Jon came back as the slayer, and all my party members were taking a nap...
Got pretty mad first (and third time) when he just keeps dimension jumps back and forth. I cast time stop and imp alc and tried to take him out with 7 HW, but just when it all started to move again he jumped and all my spells were for nothing... :D

I just ctrl Y'd his a**... :D

Oh, btw, I don't have the Tactics mod installed, so it must be in some of the others. Is it possible to choose it when installing Sola mod? I think thats were u can choose the imp. Bodhi fight to...?

Only about once... At the end of the fight, when your winning.

Improved Irenicus is only in Tactics Mod, and maybe (I say MAYBE) in one of the latest versions of the SolaMod pre-Tactics era.
Are you sure Tactics isn't installed? It surely looks like it is.
The battle is INCREDIBLY hard, and believe me, you've seen nothing yet
Think of it as the equivalent of Ascension for the end of SoA.

Spoilers!!!!!
Actually the first part of the battle (with the Wraith of Wrath, Dragon of Pride, Orb of Fear and all), is hard but not impossible, the difficult is to remain strong enough to face the other 2 parts.
The third part of the battle can be extremely frustrating, especially after you've tried the whole sequence for 4 days, 50 minutes per attempt... :D
But the satisfaction for the win is worth the effort!
Tactics has also some files with useful suggestions for the most difficult battles ;)

No, we aren't talking about the same battle. I was thinking of un-improved.

as littiz says, the first fight, with pride, wrath, etc is much easier...in fact, can be cheesed right off the back...before putting the last tear in, load each of the cave mouths with about 8 skull traps each, using project image...rest, then put the final tear in...I also had imoen cast 5 spike traps where the dragon spawns, and 2 where the sword spawns...

my other favorite trick is to abuse project image, and summon 8 planetars with my sorc...they do a good job on the entire crew...
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!
