Kagain (possible little spoiler?)

Post by black thor »

I've problems with Kagain

I've an evil party (actually reputation 12), and I've kagain in my group (his short quest completed)

no problems with him, but...

i went in the lighthouse area to keep safana (completed her quest)

in this area, there are sirines: one of them charmed kagain , I used the algernon mantle to re-charm the dwarf

after those facts, each time I change area kagain becomes hostile and i must use the algernon mantle on him

why?
what can I do?
have you even had a similar problem?

thanks for helps!!!

You charmed him while he was under sirine's dire charm, didn't you? same thing happened to me aswell.

Usually it is better to just let the charm effect wear off naturally. I believe the spell description in the manual says that using charm on friendly parties tends to make them hostile.

You might try killing him then having him resurrected. That might reset the flag that tells him he has been charmed. Not sure if anything will fix it, though.

SPOILER:
A fun way to get Kagain killed is to have Shoal the Nereid kiss him. She can be found in the map (AR3100) just north of the Lighthouse map, at the top center. Actually, you might be able to have the Sirines in that map re-charm him and just let it wear off.

Anytime you use the charm spell regardless of friend, enemy or neutral when it wears off the person will be an enemy. I believe this to be a bug.

I think that ShadowKeeper v2.1.4 (the most recent version) allows you to change the state flags for each member of your party, but it only lets you edit BG2 saved games, not BG1 saved games. If you can think of a way to edit those state flags (is there another saved game editor that can do that?), then that might be your answer.

If all else fails, here's what I would do. Kill Kagain, strip his body, and leave it to rot. Then summon him from the CLUAConsole (I recommend "KAGAIN2"), re-equip him, and set his experience to whatever it was before you killed him. If my guess is correct, that might restore him and you won't know the difference.

Kill and raise doesn't change anything.

Does Dispel Magic work? You could go to a temple to get it cast on him if you don't have the spell...
