Recent work published in the journal Nature indicate that drinking red wine (preferrably from Chile, Spain, Argentina (they make wine?) and Australia) can extend life span in model organisms (yeast, flies and worms) and may extend lifespan in humans.
A major advance over past studies is the identification of which component may have these effects. Turns out to be resveratrol (a polyphenol) and so a refined version of this natural compound could be generated to possibly influence human aging. Obviously more studies need to be done. It is proposed that resveratol may act in part to prevent cell death and allow older cells more time to repair damage to their DNA. Interestingly, resveratrol is thought to be generated in grapes as a stress response to harsh conditions (drought) and so it kind of makes sense that it can act in a preservative manner.

Huh. I read, "lifespans in model orgasms," which made me wonder just how you model and test such a thing. Amazing what they'll fund with public money, these days.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Do not really care if it prolongs life. I drink it because i enjoy it.
Can only agree with this - I usually just do thing because I enjoy them, if they happen to not kill me right away that is a bonus
But gotta say, there is not much like relaxing with a great bottle of Merlot or Haût-Medoc from France or spain (hmm, got expensive taste )

Frequency, my good man, frequency. Amazing what you can get mice to do for a wee bit of cheese.
There was actually a rat study done which found that anticipation of sex rather than the actual act itself, which led to the rise in the "happy" neurotransmitters.
And yes, it is indeed amazing what they fund with public money. And thank goodness too.... How would we ever answer those trivia questions otherwise??

So as a night progresses, you lose five minutes for each cigarette, but then get it back with each drink of red wine, and then become too drunk to roll cigarettes anymore, hence retaining your life-span, and then make a bit more back by laughing uncontrollably about it afterwards
