unseeing eye problems (SPOILERS)
I hate people who tell me that life is short - tell me one thing you do that is longer.

Please, when you're going to post spoilers in a thread, do what the site owner asks in his own Please Read Before Posting sticky thread: add a SPOILER designation to the thread title. I've done it here, and would appreciate you're doing it, in the future. Thanks.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
As soon as you get within speaking distance of the Diseased Ones (the people outside of the old temple) dialogue should initiate, then they lead you into the temple. I guess if you did things the 'evil' way, the path would be different though... maybe just drop the rift device before leaving the sewers?
"Game Balance" is getting all players to complain equally.

i have taken unused rod back to the temple, and everything played out...
where did you fight the unseeing eye? in the beholder lair, or near gaal? you need to fight him in the beholder lair, after collecting both pieces to finish that quest properly...

same problem -- where's the rift gone?
have the same problem as above, but i can be more specific.
i assemble the rift, i shoot at the beholding eye, and the rift disappears from my quickslot. now it's gone. it does not return after resting, etc. this is obviously a bug. can i get around it? and yes, my last save was -after- assembling the rift and before fighting the eye...
btw, i have the mac version of the game. and unfortunately i do not know what the above person means by 'mods'...
please help me!

Mods
Mods are game add-ins - Read the reference sticky thread above for details - that add in new NPCs, quests, monsters, loot, etc. (Item upgrade, Solaufein, Valen, Tashia, Kelsey) or modify the difficulty and/or level scaling, (Tactics or spell-50). They can produce unintended consequences on game stability.
The rift device should have moved into your inventory from your quick slot - if inventory was full, it may have fallen on the ground. Otherwise, I have no idea why the dialogue wouldn't work - it's always worked fine for me.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.
