Crash troubles

Post by Laenor »

I've been having some return to desktop troubles playing morrowind, and don't know what i should do to handle the problem =(
The trouble is, it seems to be totally random.
Sometimes i crash 5 times in 20 minutes, and sometimes i crash once in a 6 hour session :(

I've got all the latest drivers from

Graphic card
Sound card
+ Direct x9.0b

Here's my system specs :

CPU : Pentium 2.4
RAM : 2 x 256 DDR
Motherboard : ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
Graphic Card : ASUS GF4 TI4200 128mb
Sound Card : Sound Max Integrated (See motherboard ;) )
Os : Windows XP pro + last updates

I run the game in 1024x768
No real time shadows
View distance 100%
AI 50%

Got morrowind latest patch of course

If anyone could help me, i'd be realllllllyy happy ;)

Thanks !

Btw: i already modified the max FPS from my .ini file, maybe something i missed or did wrong ?

It's a problem every Morrowind fan has to live with. The game crashes randomly, and there's no patch that's gonna change that. Bethesda is improving though, i hear it was much worse with Daggerfall.

Well, after playing awhile, I could almost swear the game is having trouble managing PC inventory. I've noticed that the game often does not properly update the count of ranged weapons such as arrows, and crashes tend to occur when it suddenly discovers you're attempting to shoot something with an non-existent arrow. Since I've started closing inventory with the "all" tab selected, I've had fewer problems in both regards.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
