Cromwell speaks Kelsey: Mods problem

Post by Minerva »

I'm in the middle of Chapter 2 and doing side quests. For some reason, Cromwell the Blacksmith got Kelsey's flirt lines and don't do his normal service, ie. create Shadow Armor. I haven't even met Kelsey yet! He now only offers me upgrades options from Item Upgrade mods, but not the original works he supposed to do.

I have installed following mods: Kelsey SoA 1.5 and ToB 2.0, Item Upgrade, Solaufein, and Easy of Use. I've got full patched up before I installed mods, and have Baldurdash installed, too.

Having done uninstall-reinstall more than 5 times past three days, due to other issues, I really want to do that again. I suspect the new version of Kelsey ToB mods, because that's when everything started wrong a few days ago, but I'm not sure. It's first time I have Kelsey nor Item Upgrade installed. I had Sola in my last game without any problem.

Any idea? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to tell Cromwell to skip the list and do his regular bit... it's the first or last option on the list, I believe.

Hmmm. When did you install Baldurdash, and did you install the English Language Update after you had other mods in place?

Oooh, you are quick to reply. :)

Well, the problem occurs when I try the regular bit. I don't have problems with the additionals, but when I choose the first option for the regular bit, I get Kelsey voice with many options for flirting.

Actually, I installed Item Upgrade mod during my last game. I added it while playing ToB, but Cespener (sp?) spoke as normal and offered me his normal service. I didn't have Kelsey mods installed then.

I have installed the English Update. I think I installed Baldurdash at the very last, but I cannot be 100% sure. As I mentioned, I've done so many uninstall-reinstall, both mods only and whole game and mods, past few days due to other problems, ie. can't sleep in the inn, Jaheira doesn't move, game crashes when I am ambushed by vampires.... :(

BTW, Jaheira suddenly made move on me (she didn't until I began experience problems), and I'm playing female! I haven't got any romance related mods, as I'm going to get Kelsey and Sola. Is this in some way related to the Cromwell problem?

EDIT: I've got Kelsey ToB 2.1, not 2.0. Sorry.

Well, that'll do it. Baldurdash stuff overwrites everything else in the game, so you must put it in immediately after the Bioware patch.

What, in particular, was the dialogue? Jaheira does have a short "pseudo-lovetalk" track with female PCs, just to get some exposition out of the way. Baldurdash has at various times included a romance hack in the hacks/tweaks section, though, and you did mention Ease of Use which has a romance hack in it as well, if you told it to "install all."

Okay, so I need to uninstall all other mods, install Baldurash, then reinstall them. I'll try that when I go back to home. :)

I didn't install romance hack from Easy of Use. I'm not sure what was conversations (I haven't played the game for three days due to the problems), but it's definitely lovetalk, because I recognized the music as well (I did Jaheira romance with male PC long time ago).

The exposition may have had the lovetalk music... (I've never played a female char, so I don't know)

Update

I've uninstalled all mods I had, then re-installed in the following order:

ToB patches
Baldurash remix (some of them)
Item Upgrade
Sola
Kelsey SoA
Kelsey ToB
Easy of Use (some of them to avoid more problems)

Now, Cromwell doesn't sound like Kelsey any more, but he still gives me Kelsey (I assume) conversations (choice of 20 or something) if I select the first option. I've never had Kelsey mod before, so I don't know which part of romance that is from, but the options I can pick mentions Solaufein, and in different option it says something about Robe of Vecna. Then, it eventually goes back to Cromwell's usual options, ie if I want to make armour from the scale of a beast I've got.

   Do I have to uninstall whole game AGAIN? :( I really, really don't want to that...

I have Kelsey and Solaufein, but no Baldurdash, Ease of Use or Item Upgrade. My cromwell works fine, so i think it is safe to assume that one of the mods i dont have is the problem. Try uninstalling those three and reinstalling only one, see if it works, then add another and see if it works, and find the bad one.

I also have Darkest Day but i doubt that would fix a bug from another mod...

For the record, support for Remix has ended, it's better to just stick with original Baldurdash.

Well, if nothing else appears to be wrong, why don't you just keep playing it out? The same upgrade options will be available in TOB through Cespenar. Just work around the Cromwell weirdness and have him just upgrade the usual stuff.

I know that Kelsey and IU are typically entirely compatible, so something else is wrong. But I can't tell what.

That's what I thought, but I'm concerned that this might affect the romance script with Kelsey later on.
