Can a ftr/thief become ftr/assassin in BG2?

Post by pgroves »

Can a fighter/thief from BG1 be imported into BG2 and become a fighter/assassin? I haven't bought BG2 yet, but intend to soon...

I'd like to take a character all through BG1 and into BG2 and would like to be an assassin in BG2 - can I do this with multi-classed thieves (e.g. fighter/thief, illusionist/thief etc.) or only single-class?

thanks

You cannot choose kits for the multi-class character in BG2, whether you import or create for the new BG2 game. Only way to implement your idea is to use ShadowKeeper.

And just a side note.
If you think of dual classing instead, you can only choose kits for the primary class - so you can't make a fighter/assassin dual class either, but a assassin/fighter dual class.

Although - like minerva says, you can use Shadowkeeper to do it, but not legally.

A multi-class character cant have kit's like stated above, except for gnomes, who can multiclass the illusionist.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

IMHO it's OK to use SK if you finish BG1 without cheating and continue playing the party in BG2... but only if you compensate the lack of classes in BG1. I mean, don't do things like Sorceror/Druid/Kensai or stuff, but if you have a Thief/Fighter in BG1 I find it totally acceptable to change it into an Assassin/Fighter with SK.

You have to decide for yourself. But remember, cheating spoils, so do it carefully.

or you can finish BG1 with BGT
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

I hate to say it, but I don't think most of these things actually do carry over.
