Not your average Harper quest bug, and other annoyances

Post by Georgi »

IIRC the Harper Quest starts off when you come across a poisoned guy, and have to take him to Rylock, and that should happen the first time you go out of Athkatla. This encounter never happened. Did I unknowingly install a mod that disables the Harper Quest? And can I tamper with something to spawn that guy and kick off the quest?

And another odd problem - Anomen and Kelsey aren't doing what they're told. :D That is, if I click for either of them to walk somewhere, they move a little bit then stop, so I have to keep clicking to get them anywhere. None of the other NPCs are affected. I do have a previous save which seems ok, but I've done the Umar Hills and Trademeet quests since then, and I'd rather not have to do them all over again. Is there anything I can do?

I have installed: official patch, Baldurdash fixpack, Kelsey, Solaufein, Flirtpacks and Ease-of-Use.

Have you installed random encounter (or something like that) mod? I had similar problem, though I eventually came across the poisoned guy with poisoners.

I also had the second problem you are having with Jaheira. I suspect it is something to do with romance script and a mod, considering they (Anomen, Kelsey and Jaheira) are all romanceable characters. Probably due to the order you have installed mods and fix pack.

I eventually had to go through uninstall-reinstall routine.

Don't think I installed a random encounter mod, but I might have lost track of what I installed and what I didn't. ;)

I figured the second problem was probably something to do with the romance thing as well... I think the Ease-of-use pack had a multiple romance tweak in it, and I've heard those can be trouble... Ok, going off to uninstall/reinstall and see if that helps. Thanks Minerva. :)

It could be other mod (or something in Easy-of-Use or fix pack), but my computer kept crashing after I declined Bodhi's advance and walk around during the night. I'm sure it related to vampires ambush.

After the official patch, you need to install fixpack before everything else, I think. jcompton of Forgotten Wars and Kelsey mod fame ( :D ) gave me the advice. :)

Ok, second problem fixed, but still no Harper quest. This is quite annoying, as I was only going to keep Jaheira until I'd finished the Harper quest, and now I've ended up taking her with me for ages! I'm wondering if there's a global variable I can change to start the quest...

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work - I didn't get the related dialogue options when I talk to Rylock, even with the body in my inventory.

I have a new problem now as well. I just took the illithium alloy to Sir Sarles, and when I headed back to the Temple of Helm to explain, I can't talk to Telwyn, it just says he has nothing to say to me.

Who said mods were buggy?
