right now i have my PC a human Paladin
Ajantis, Branwen with gauntlets of ogre strenght, which improved her THAQO alot, Imoen as a thief/mage Coran and Kivan with bows

Just started over again,
my PC is a Fighter/Mage, furhter I have
Imoen as a Thief/Mage,
Jaheira
Ajantis
Branwen
Minsc, IMO this is a balanced party, it has 1 Cleric, 1 Druid for the priest spells, 2 mages, 1 thief, 1 ranger for scouting ahead and he can use a bow and a good two-handed sword, Ajantis is my party leader with his high charisma and his excellent melee combat abilities, which is supported by the other fighters, I think this is my ideal good aligned party.

In an evil party:

PC (Fighter/Mage), supporting in melee combat, supporting spellcaster
Kagain, best melee fighter in the whole game)
Viconia, best cleric there is IMO
Jaheira, since she is neutral she fits here as well
Safana, I need a good thief earlyh in the game
Edwin, best mage there is

Coran and Kivan are always a good choice, in my opinion they are the best NPCs in the game. About Branwen, I think she sucks (and so does Viconia, only way to have a good cleric is to have a npc cleric but you don't actually NEED a cleric.). Imoen is the best thief in the game and se rocks, if you don't want to dual her you might want to consider picking Minsc and Dynaheir instead of Ajantis and Branwen. Minsc is better than Ajantis and Branwen is useless, Dynaheir is pretty good mage (if someone whines about her class, YES you can get WANDS ffs

)

Ok your evil pary looks pretty good (EXCEPT Jaheira, dump her and pick Shar-Teel or stay 5 person) but your good party sucks

2 priest and 2 arcane spellcasters ? What were you thinking ?

Well if you get quickly high level I might understand it but I'd rather have 1 pure mage, 1 pure thief and 2-4 warriors. And BTW I have recently understood what people mean when they recommend smallers parties

ps. you might consider getting some good archers because bows are the most powerful weapons in the game!

I have Ajantis, Minsc and my PC specialised in bows, very affective, a large group is quickly brought to 3 or 4 creatures even before they reach me, then pull out the melee weapons and happy slashing

I know I don't need Branwen or Jaheira in my party, maybe I gonna throw them out, but at the other hand, there are enough ways to reach the 161.000 XP (yes I don't use the XP cap remover

) and like to have a great various party.

So you're absolutely right, but I think I keep them a little longer and see what I'll do

Romeo, fighter/thief or as I say "Slaughter Machine"

Montaron, "Mr Psycho Killer"

Coran, "Sniper"

Kivan, "Sniper"

Imoen, "Best Friend"

Dynaheir, "Currently useless"

Just have to say that, nothing in the game could survive my party, first I sent Coran and Kivan to kill everything with their bows... or Romeo to backstab everyone with his scimitars, formerly belonged to someone called Drizzt...

Montaron kicked the nymphs asses with "dagger of venom"...man that was some glorious times...or

slaugther times..

i wouldn't say Branwen is useless, she has a decent THAQO now, and second best AC in my party, and good healoing spells, which is why i have her with me

Sounds like a BAD ASS party!
My party is normally like:

P.C- Paladin
Imoen-Conjurer/Thief
Kagain-Fighter
Branwen-Cleric
Either: Xzar
OR
Edwin
Coran OR Khalid OR Jaheira(Khalid is pretty good if he has the gloves of OGRE STRENGTH) And Jaheira is sort of decent with her Call Lightning

Multi-Player i'll have
P.C -Paladin
Fighter/Thief (Dwarf)
Conjurer
Cleric
Ranger OR Elf fighter mastered with Bow
Cleric/Thief

Trust me- with 2 backstabbers , Paladin and Elf fighter shooting they rock

I never use backstabbing cause it simply is not fun tactic

btw i got again interested in BG and started a new game with a chaotic neutral male halfling cleric

I got Montaron, Xzar and Kivan in the party atm

Gonna play 4 guys til I pick Coran and beat the game with 5

Dwarf (me) (Powerful fighter with Ashideena and Large Shield +2; and crossbow for sniping)

Kivan (Sniper)

Coran (Thief/Sniper)

Minsc (Tank with Spider's Bane or Varscona, with Throwing Axe +2 for ranged attacking)

Dynaheir (Mage/Spare part)

Viciona (Healer....decent fighter with Gauntlets of Ogre Strength)

but i had instead:

Imoen-dualed to conjurer
Yeslick- LMAO he does kind of suck but im replacing him with Shar-Teel-then dual her into a thief- oh man thats gonna be good

I've just killed Davaron or wotever his name is and oh man it was easy

I had my PC, Coran , Montaron and Imoen hide in shadows (made sure they got. Got Yeslick and Kivan as diversions just throwing missles n crap at him. THEN I DID A TRIPLE BACKSTAB! I KILLED HIM INSTASTLY! LMAO

my equip so far is
P.C- Shadow armour, Bow, Long sword from the Grey Wolfe.
Montaron- Stud +2 , Dagger of venom, battle axe +1
Coran- Stud armour, long sword +1 , conposite bow +1
Kivan-Ankheg male,(well its green and i LOVE green

) and composite bow.
Imoen- brac AC6, short bow +1 , short sword +2
Yeslick- Plate Mail +1, sling +1, Hammer +2

I sold nearly ALL of my stuff and i think ive got nearly ummm 35 000

(i know it's rather uninspired, but for the sake of story i stick w/ these guys / gals, i've beaten the game w/ this crew before when i had a half elf ftr / thief)

just starting out this time though, the basic plan is who dies dies, and i'll find a replacement.

Mirk, your party looks good but you don't need 6 characters. I recommend you drop Minsc out, it makes your exping faster and he is useless fighter since you already got 4 archers ?
