Help! Monster in the wall!

Post by Caedis1 »

So, I'm in the basement of the Moathouse and decided to take a rest before taking on those gnolls since I kept dying. Predictably, I was jumped by a group of guardsmen and dire rats. Nothing I can't handle, except for this little glich: one of the guardsmen seems to be positioned right in the middle of the wall! I can't get to him, can't shoot at him, can't cast spells at him. Of course, he can't get to me either, but this leaves me in turn-based limbo as the game apparently expects me to perform the impossible feat of killing this last monster that I can't even touch. Has anyone else encountered this? Any advice on how to overcome it aside from going back to an earlier saved game from 2 days and 2 levels ago? I'd even settle for a cheat code to kill the derned thing a la NWN if anyone knows of anything. Thanks!

Heh. I've had that happen. I just leave 'em there. They can't hurt me, why should I hurt them? But, I'm playing a NG nature-oriented party, so it seems fair to leave that snake in the wall. :)
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

Yeah, but how do I get out of turn-based mode if I do that? It won't end! I even tried to walk to an exit, but I can't get out of the room in turn-based. So it seems like I'm stuck there with this monster in the wall and unable to go anywhere. Any ideas?

This happened to me..with some bugbears.. I didn't wnat to fight them I wanted to rest first and get my spells back. I had to walk a REALLY far way away..try going as far away as you can..it usually kicks out then (and make sure you move your whole party there..

Undead/wouldn't die

I have had undead in Deklo Grove that died but you could still target them and get the red ring that signals they can be targeted.

I think he means the ring that goes around your target which defines it's an enemy.
It was still target-able because it was unconscious, not dead, most likely.

As far as the monster in the wall goes...

I rest, get encounter in the wall, but the game doesn't go into turn based since I'm not being attacked.
I rest again, and again, and again.
Monsters keep appearing in the wall, so I figure no biggie, and go on my way.

I leave, come back, and find the passageway packed with all those monsters that were inside the wall !!!
They don't attack me for some reason, so I figure I'll clean up a bit.
I attack, and all of the sudden, it's a full out war !!!

Bugbears, lizards, lizard men all over me. I kill all of them, except for 3, which, unfortunately, are still stuck in the wall !!!
Now I'm stuck in turn based mode, can't use any exits, and can't attack the monsters inthe wall.
After all that, I had to re-load the game and not attack anything.

What a waste.

Yup really a waste 'cause if you had walk away enuff the turn based would have end.
