if you are really ultimately stuck (which you shouldnt be) you can CLUA the summons dead and concentrate on him (dont CLUAkill him!)

Have you ever heard any more inspiring or logical words? I sure haven't.

Well...
If you fried the prisoners, they'd probably need some tenderizer, or they'd be too tough Seriously, I hope you have a save previous to that, as the Irenicus fught is ugly without some (albeit slightly mad) assistance.
If you freed them, it would be a different matter.
But, yes, you need to fight Irenicus.

I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

You can do it without those prisoners, but I'd say that you just restored some of the initial toughness to the game by your impromptu barbeque. Should we assume your own moral alignment is Chaotic Evil?

major cheesyness ahead... from the gaming god kevin dorner...
von, if you confront irenicus before you have the dialog with lonk the sane, he uses a irenicus only version of wish....which insta kills your party, but as you can see, if you like cheese and scroll down, this can still be exploited...as you can see, you can defeat him easily without the inmates behind you...
More cheese from Kevin...(Kevin Dorner)
"First two battles with Irenicus made very very easy:
#1 - Spellhold: On the lower level, when you return from the "tests" after talking to Saemon, Irenicus is in the lab area. *DO NOT* go in there or he will insta-kill the whole group. Open the door, staying well back. Now chuck a Cloudkill in there aiming in front of the "jar" that the PC was put in, about the width of the jar itself. As soon as the gas bubble leaves, shut the door. Jonny will take heavy damage and even with an INT of 18 is too stupid to figure out to open the door. Wander up and down the hall to force him to seek the PC through the Cloudkill. You can get him own to 1 HP like this, at which point his MINHP1 ring stops him dying. If you don't get him down to 1HP, you can send summons through the door one at a time; he will waste his spells on them. In the following battle, as soon as he takes any damage it's over.

If you encounter Irenicus after killing the prisoners, his reaction may be significantly different from encountering him simply without achieving alliance with the prisoners. I haven't tested this, but it certainly seems possible.
