I'm just starting out and finished fighting the two giant spiders for the woodcutter. I went back to town to rest and found that I have three problems:
1. when I click on an NPC to talk I immediately attack them
2. my fighter was poisoned and lost 4 pts of strength - will he get this back? (I already rested overnight)
3. I used my rogue in the fight with the spiders and told him to sneak - now he is still sneaking and moving really slow and I can't get him to stop.
Is all this because of something I'm doing wrong?
TIA for the help...

Misspellers Untie!
1. Not sure about this one.
2. Strength comes back after time (I think fortitude checks are included...)
3. To stop sneaking, you sort of have to go through the same process as how you got into it. Click the guy that is sneaking, right-click, move the cursor to the (usually lower right choice) and select Stop Sneaking.

A Little Help for the New Guy...(?)
Hi, All.
I don't know how much of a help this advice will be to YOU, but it seemed to help ME figure out a lot of things regarding using the radial commands and such:
I recommend running a single character through a few of the encounters.
He (or She) is probably going to get butchered, if you run up against any real combat -- I am inclined to believe that your alignment determines what you run up against before you get to Hommlet (I started a Neutral Half-orc Barbarian, and got to have a nice huggie-kissie with a Druid who sent me to the town without any combat, but my Neutral Evil Ranger had to fight her way into town through a nasty Cleric of Saint Cuthbert -- bastard swords RULE, if you can ever hit...).
However, this allows you the opportunity to run through all of the different character abilities in a controlled manner -- you can cast protective spells all day long in the streets of Hommlet without the local militia descending on you like a plague of locust, you can learn how to sneak (or stop sneaking) without having your life depend on it.
This should help demonstrate whether your problems are within the disk you bought, some random problem your computer is having, or whatever...
It also gets you familiar with "how to play your character effectively" without having to juggle a whole party of divergent character types, each one having a particular set of skills, feats, and abilities.
You can "wash, rinse, and repeat" with each class you want to include in your party until things start working right.
Otherwise, I don't know -- maybe there is a spot of coffee on your disk...?
Good luck, and hope it all works out.

I'm another beginner with tis game. Perhaps my problem is a bit lame...
I have a problem because neither my mage nor druid are able to cast a spell from the scroll. They're both 2nd level characters. What I do is:
1. using "read magic" spell
2. using "Magic device" feat.
I need to heal the leatherworker's son-in-law. But always when I perform the scroll of healing, it fails.
Generally, how to use scrolls effectively?

Fun with Scrolls
If your character is able to use a scroll he/she/it is carrying, it will show up in your radial menu under "inventory," and from there under "scrolls." This is the same way one uses potions, or switches weapons in combat (although for the weapon-switching, you go into the inventory, which opens up your backpack, and then you pull whatever you want to use into your equipped slots on your character diagram. Just remember, without the Quick Draw feat, switching weapons uses a half-action. Using potions or scrolls always uses a half-action.

Hey, after we're done rebuilding Iraq, can we start rebuilding America's public schools?
It's OK. I can use the radial menu, and the mentioned scrol appears there. I click on it, then on Bink to cast a spell but in both cases there is no positive result. Just an info that there is no avaliability or sth. Generally failrue. I've risen both characters up to 3rd level but the problem continues. I noticed that the same reffers to some other scrolls like invisibility.
Does it depends on feats & skills? If so, which then?
