A Bg1 Request

Post by erhanozek »

I am truly sorry for posting this to the BG2 forum but BG1 forum doesnt seem to be very active for quite some time and i need help as quickly as possible... Here is my problem...
Does anybody have Baldur's Gate I installed on his/her computer?... If yes, I would ask for a small favor from you... Now for some reason the game crashes during the 'gnoll stronghold' movie in my computer and i cant skip past it the first time it is played... I have uploaded my saved game to the internet... What i need you to do is to download that saved game, load it in Baldur's Gate, go to the 'gnoll stronghold' area, skip the gnoll stronghold movie, save the game and send me back the saved game... The saved game is attached to four e-mails on the yahoo account 'baldurhelp@yahoo.co.uk' and the password is 'khalid'...
If you can think of any other way to skip the movie that would do as well...
Thanks in advance...
I apologize for the inconveniance once again...

Simple solution:
Open the file 'Baldur.ini' located in your BG1 directory with a text editor (e.g. Notepad) and search for the text [Movies] (with the brackets), it should be near the end of the file.
Under [Movies] there schould be several lines with text like BG4LOGO=1, TSRLOGO=1, BILOGO=1 etc.
Add GNOLL=1 and the movie should be marked as already played and no longer start when you enter the area.

@Erhanozek, the BG forum was placed here for that game. If you have a request thread for information from it, please place it in the correct forum. People do check this forum regularly, and we've received complaints before from BG2 players who objected to people posting questions about BG1, taking up first page thread space in their forum. Under those circumstances, we typically move the threads, as I did yours, or delete 'em--so please follow the rules of common courtesy. ;) Thanks.

HELP STILL NEEDED

Numinor, thanks for your concern but unfortunately your suggestion does not help... It only makes gnoll movie available to watch in the opening menu... The game still tries to play the movie when i try to enter the area... And it is logical, else once you beat the game and start anew no movies would play itself... Anyway people, i still need help about my problem... Maybe a saved game editor would help if such a thing exists... Else i would ask you to help me the way described in the first post...

Hmm, try downloading Gatekeeper and open your savegame with it. Click on "Party Location" in the lower right corner and change that to Gnoll Stronghold. I hope that does it, if not I'm sure there is a way to disable the video sequences completly (although I don't remember how atm :( )

I think the movie will stay play if you've never been to that area before. I once used a CLUAConsole command to "jump" to Durlag's Tower and the movie still played because I'd never been there before.

There might be a global variable you can add or modify to trick the game into thinking that you've already been to an area. Unfortunately, I don't have BG1 installed on my computer at the moment so I can't check it out.

Okay, I found it. This command will prevent the movie from playing:

CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("ENTEREDGNOLL","GLOBAL",1)

Heck. I have BG1 uploaded...send it to me. I'll give it a try. Let me make sure I understand...
1) Load your game.
2) Get into the Gnoll stronghold (after the movie)
3) Save and give it back...

WTH
