Keeping Yoshimo ??? (could be a spoiler)
Keeping Yoshimo ??? (could be a spoiler)
OK, her's the deal. I wanted to prevent Yoshimo from leaving, so when Irenicus was giving me the Asylum tour, I ditched him behind the corner. When I came back to release the crazies, I told Lonk, that I'll go to the cell and then went behind the corner, and had Yoshi join me (had to ditch Korgan for this, but he was beginning to annoy me anywy, because my reputation was 19). Then went fighting with Irenicus. When I went back to the cell area, I met this captain (can't remember the name right now) and chose to sail back with him. When I left the Asylum, Yoshimo died. No problem, took his things and in the temple of Umberlee had him ressurrected.
Now, what I would like to know, is that after this, will he stay with me until the end, or are there other unpleasant rurprises ???

IIRC there wasn't in SoA. There might be in ToB, though. I don't think anyone's tested it. Many people are sceptic to expoiting a bug. Also, he'll get no new dialogues.
This technic is better than the petrify or "talk fast" technic, since it let you use Yoshi for almost the whole game (otherwise you leave him him Athkatla before going to Asylum).

Yes, you can get, what, 200 000 XP? That's not so much considering how late you get it in the game. At best, it makes up for a bit of the XP you've given Yoshi during the early parts of the game. Of course, you could pick him up just before going to Asylum. Still, 200 000 XP for the loss of a good thief is no fair trade.

Hmm, I choose not to comment on that NOR on the fact that you noticed...Originally posted by Skeelo:

I'd like to add that Yoshimo makes a very nice NPC when dualled to fighter. With the exp cap in ToB, you could take him to a fairly high level as a thief, if you want to, before dualling.

Damn shame he has to go. Possibly a better Fighter than Sarevok, considering you get to pick his proficiencies and he gets to backstab. Another point of Armor Class never hurts either. Way less Hit Points, of course...Originally posted by Astafas:

I hate to bust your bubble, Astafas, but if you leave Yoshimo in the Copper Coronet before going to Brynnlaw, Yoshimo will croak upon your return. Why Bioware felt they had to permanently kill off the best rogue in the game, I do not know.

The problem with leaving Yoshi behind in the Copper Coronet in Athkatla and trying to pick him up again after the Underdark is that he dies as soon as you enter the Copper Coronet on your return (you get a 'Yoshimo: Death' message).
You can only ressurect an NPC if his portrait is greyed out in your party list down the right-hand side, which in this case he isn't.
You cannot obtain/regain Yoshi's services after Spellhold/Underdark using this approach, sorry.

@Philip:
No, there is a way to keep Yoshimo by leaving him at CC. As soon as you enter CC after returning from Asylum you have to pause. Then speak to Yoshi, who hasn't got the time to die yet. Let him join your party, watch him die, and then raise him again. That's the Fast Talk strategy. It has been confirmed. The other one is to petrify him before going away, but I haven't tried that one.

The guys who discover these strategies (bugs?) are devious geniuses!
Bioware would do well to employ a team of people from this board for their Testing/QA team! I'm a software engineering professional and I would give you guys a job anytime.
Mind you, I'm the sort of player who sees strategies such as 'Fast Talk' as bugs and too cheesy for me (personally). Don't let that stop anyone else though. Either way, I just LOVE the way BGII is one cool tapestry of things to discover!

Well, he doesn't *have* to go, that's the whole point with this thread. Unless, of course, there is some unknown problem with taking Yoshi into ToB. Up to date, I think GEorGE has found the best strategy to keep him in the party, since he won't miss out on the XP from Sahuagin City and Underdark. I remember someone explaining that having Yoshimo hiding in shadows before the fight with Irenicus, or maybe it was using a invisiblity spell, would prevent him from leaving the party and attack. That's a good one, too.Originally posted by Xyx:

Oh for ****s sake guys, read the first post in this topic goddamn...
No fast talk
No petrify
No cheats
Just leave him in the asylum corridor and when you go to release the prisoners, tell Lonk that you will go to the cell and then you go talk to yoshimo, who happens to be right behind the corner waiting for you.

If you kept Yoshimo though SoA, then (barring any cheats per the original topic) he will dissapear after you get back from hell. Essentially he (and all the gear on him!) will VANISH between chapter 7 and chapter 8. You have to manually import him into ToB at this point...but that is a cheat.

Well, George's "technique" doesn't seem to work with ToB installed. No matter where you dump Yoshimo in the asylum, he turns hostile when you go to talk to him. The good news is that I've found lots of new hidden places in the asylum maze with the tab key, cause I've played it through so many times trying to make this work
