No one will talk to me !!!

OK. I'm trying to go thru again. This time w/ a wizard. I'm in the Underdark and the Gnome Chief won't talk to me, and the wizard Vithal, won't talk to me. (So I can complete their quests.) I get the ever frustrating "Vithal is busy. You cannot initiate dialog." WTF !!! Do I go to my earlier game and start all over again? Please help here. BTW, sleeping for days at a time doesn't help either.

First let me say this... hahahahha!
OK... anyway, I had this problem too, supposedly its because of the version of Windows your using. You have 2 options

Delete Windows and get an older version (Not recommended)

OR....

Download the patch for Throne of Bhaal (If you have it) or the Newest SoA Patch

Got another one for you - How do I "recharge" the Staff of Power. I had it (until I try my hand at the Twisted Rune & Staff of Magi)-want to use it but if has no powers besides the AC bonus.

Either sell and rebuy it, or and this is considerd cheese by some, just put it in the Bag of Holding, get it out again and it should be recharched...

Havent used this myself though, since I dont do item exploitations

Oops... Sorry about that, I had the problem too and since I was trying to get the romances to work I thought it was cause I cheated the system and put in an all created party into single player or something. It pissed me off to no end till I found that patch.

BTW... if you really want to recharge something and really want to exploit items,
Use CLUA console commands or
Download Shadowkeeper and give yourself whatever items you want...

BTW just for the record, i've never played a paladin... mainly I play wizzies and sorcerors. How can you stand all those thees and thous and foreasmuchs? At that rate itd take you an hour to get through a single sentence.

Yes I've used CLUA - It was a real shock when I got Imoen and had to dump one of my NPCs. (Had to dump Nalia). I didn't want to dump her spells (she was about 12-13 lvl - really getting going), or dump her items, so I CLUA'ed Imoen some XP (at the lowest # for 12th lvl) and Nalia's stuff.

BTW how does Nalia get out of the prison? or does she just rot there?

The "cannot initiate dialog" bug is a known issue that is sorted by the latest patch

Go look up Nalia in the dungeon on Gamefaqs or Gamebanshee. Im pretty sure what you need to do is find evidence of that nosy official's corruption.
Go to his house in bridge and find the slavery documents (or was it money laundering?)
Then I THINK you go talk to his hired goons or something and get slavery documents.

Anyway go to the gamebanshees stronghold quests I think it is to find out more info. I wont give a link cuase your at the forum I suppose you could probably find your way to the walkthrough.

No No I already solved that one. What I mean is when Bohdi "releases" you into the maze and Imoen is returned to you. Can you ever get Nalia back? I never tried - I was moving on to ToB. I tried to NOT take Imoen and Jahiera yelled at me, saying something like, 'You pig. How could you turn your back on your sister! I'll leave if it will make a spot open for Imoen.' Or something like that. (Damn sanctimonious, if you ask me.) SO I dumped Nalia - see ya sister.

thats why i usually shadowkeeper minsc into a paladin...

ok, recharging items...

the rules...

items with a certain number of charges, like the staff of power and wands must be sold to a shop keeper, and either pickpocketed back, or bought back... these items, once all the charges are gone, disappear....

once a day use items, like the horn of blasting or ring of ram can be placed into a bag of holding or gem bag, and it will recharge...

however for a 2 or 3 times a day use item, like the horn of blasting, you must drain the item completely, so it has zero charges, then placing it in a bag of holding will restore only one charge. if charges still remain, putting it in the bag will not restore any charges...

Uh if you really want Nalia in your party when Bodhi releases you into her little dungenon you need 5 people in your party to make room for her... If you had Yoshimo and didn't cheat the system and hes dead cause you killed him and cut out his little black heart then its easy. But if you never got Yoshimo for some reason you need to kick someone out of your party. Frankly I can't see any difference between Imoen and Nalia xept Imoen is a better thief and has a better sense of humor

My party usually consists of:
Me (This time as a female wizard)
Keldorn
Anomen (romanced)
Jahiera
Aerie (my 6 yr old daughter loves her)
Imoen/Nalia

I plan on giving Crom Faer to Aerie and tank her
Anomen w/ flail o' ages
Keldorn w/ Carsomyr
J w/ that unicorn spear and the massive spear you get from the lizard city
Imoen w Gesen (once I fix it) and adjatha (no charm-I HATE illithids)
Me w Staff o' wizzies (I'll read up on strats to win Twisted Rune)

Don't like Yoshimo-usually dump him in CC w/ Minsc
