Powerful party
Powerful party
The thread of Corsair regarding your favourite fighter made me think of that party:
PC - sorcerer (or berserker/cleric 13/xx)
Imoen (SwashImoen)
Aerie (or NPC sorcerer depending of what you choose for PC)
and then:
Korgan: dualling Axe of Unyelding and Crom (21 od vit. and 25 str.!)
Sarevok: Ravager/2HSword
Keldorn: Carsomyr
Not bad for a for a front line and you also have 3 mages (!!!), plus a cleric and a thief.

I started from the beginning (again) and am not just that far, but currently I have:
PC: Fighter/Mage (CF)
Korgan: Throwing Axe +3
Jaheira: Dagger +1 (sucks, I know, but haven't got anything better yet
)
Viconia: (FoA +3)
Edwin: (usually only spells, otherwise his sling +2)
Jan: (That bow that fires 3 time a round, dunno what it is called)
In ToB I am thinking to replace Jaheira or Jan by Sarevok, maybe somebody has suggestions?
BTW as you might have guessed: only evil/neutral characters

I´ve started with just the same party yesterday, except for Edwin (I hate him. IMHO Aerie is just lots better.) And my main is F/M/T, cause I plan to disrupt the sistem in ToB, and he is neutral too.
And Jaheira is with a Staff +2... better than Dagger!
I'm thinking if I should have brought Anomen too, but he is soo boring... even though a Lord Of Destruction in ToB

How did you get the +3 trow. axe in the beginning (probably you are referring to the +3 reg. axe you buy in C.C.), anyway make Korgan your tank and leave the ranged attack to somebody else.

You need at least an half mage so you can substitute Jan eventually with Imoen; sobs. Jaheira with Sarevok depend whether you prefer a more mellee oriented party or a more magical one (but Jaheira is also a good fighter), remember that in the second part of Tob (after Jaheira pass 6M exp) she becomes very powerfull.

She becomes hot, but you cannot forget Anomen, he is a good tank in ToB too. Dual or multi classes really make the difference in ToB

I must be misreading you, because Jan *is* at least that--half a mage, and half a thief. He's the best thief, in fact, that you can hire in the game, and a fine second-string mage who can become a great one with the addition of a certain item in ToB.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I made a mistake, I was meaning "you need at least half thief, so eventually you can change Jan (full thief) with Imoen (half thief), not with Sarevok.
BTW which is the item you referring to in ToB?

Yeah I know (it is the Rifthome Axe BTW), but I needed a +3 weapon for some nasty beasts
With me it is exactly vice versa, I hate Aerie, I played with her once and she has some nice spells, but I prefer Edwin, cuz he is a single class mage and gains levels quickly so I have time stop in no timeOriginally posted by Luis Antonio

Well
If you just 'chain' and 'contingency' Aerie cleric and mage spells together you've busted your Edwin (he is indeed very good, has a great number of spells and hi -int, but time-stop is not one of my favourites, I prefer dragon breath). Have you ever tried that? In the beggining, point to Edwin. But from the end of SoA to the end of ToB Aerie is the Dragon Slayer, if you know what I mean...
Spoiler
I have cheated (hate to tell that) and killed Firkraag with a single contingency, the Shadow Dragon with a 'lower resistance' and a contingency and that blasted Irenicus Dragon with Lw Res, Cntgncy and a Crit Hit from Korgan!
Something better than that? Only if I could dual or multi mage/druid...
Well, but that is just my opinion

Sorry Fable, I'm not spamming, but I'm curious to know which is the item you are refering.

Just finished SoA...I have a question?
I am thinking of replacing Aerie with Sarevok...any ideas
My current party:
Me 18lvl mage
Kel 18 lvl
Anomen MASSIVE cleric
Jah (about 14 lvl in both)
Immie (also 18 lvl)
and poor little Aerie (think she is about 14lvl Cleric, and 13 lvl mage)
My dilema is her healing spells and she can cast sequenced MM and stand back and cast lower resistances - but she doesn't level up that quickly (read 9 lvl mage spells)
Just your thoughts
Thanks
AC

Well, IMHO is a price worth to pay, and usually she is my romance also. Not to worry about that, but HLA's are hart to get but worthy to wait

Aerie will become very powerful (involving also a lot of cheese in her use), keep her.
With Keldorn as main fighter and Anomen/Jaheira as support you should be fine (remember that you will also have powerful summons for help).
If you want Sarevok for extra muscle I would suggest to substitute Anomen, as you already have Aerie as cleric and she is more than enough for ToB (ToB is more a reign of mages than of clerics).

Ahhhh...Thanks. I play a female mage (my 6 yr old daughter likes me to play girls)
- so Anomen is my romance.
I guess my REAL question is/was: Will there be any conflicts with Sarevok and Keldorn or my other LG chars? I'd hate to get a goodly ways through ToB and have Kel shout something to Sarevok like, "I've had it! You and me outside right now!!" - and they square off and I lose one.
So the concensus is to not upset my "apple cart" and keep the party as is.
Thanks

NOUB
I prefer to go with at least 2 tanks up front, with a second-line of fighter/spellcasters, followed by a third tier of weaker spellcasters.
This time round I'm playing with (in order):
Minsc
Sarevok
Anomen
PC (mage/theif)
Imoen
Edwin
I like the balance between Minsc and Sarevok taking the brunt of the physical assaults while Anomen heals them from behind, and/or kicks ass with a mace +3/sling+3. My M/T has a short bow +3 and a long sword +3, but mostly deals out offensive spells. Imoen is also an archer (short bow +3), and along with Edwin, targets enemy magic users with disruptive spells from the rear.
So far, a winning combination. I took out Gromnir and his party the first try --used poison bolts and acid arrows on the flanking mages, let Sarevok and my PC fight Gromnir while Minsc and Anomen took on the other fighters. Imoen gave ranged-fire support to all three fights, and laied down a couple of spells worth of death fog on teh dias to finish off the mages. Worked like a charm.

Unlike SoA, in ToB there are no fight between the NPC, so you wan't have trouble.
Do you mean like one on one combat or verbal arguments? Because of it's verbal arguments, there are actually. One thing that doesnt go is Sarevok and Mazzy. They ALWAYS argue. But Sarevok is nicer now Bhaal is gone from in him...
I dont advise keeping Aerie, as she gets in the way. But the cool thing is she can use all the cleric weapons as a mage to. Thats mad. But Edwin is considerably better. As soon as Id beaten Yaga Shura, i swear and poof! Comet!
Whatever happened to my ICED TEA?
