SPOILER - Underdark help

Post by Armycardinal »

SPOILER

OK. I have Phare's fake eggs, and Soulefein's eggs. I know I have to switch the eggs (as per the SoA walk through):

Head inside the temple, swap the real eggs with the fake eggs from Phaere, and head back to the Female Fighter's Society. Give Phaera the fake eggs Solaufein gave you (confusing, isn't it?), and then head to the temple to watch the fireworks
:D

I have tried sanctuary, and invisi potions. The guards still raise the alarm and the whole city is in an uprising - I'd rather not HAVE to kill everyone in the city - I'd run out of spells - remember the city is sealed and I can't leave. I need some tips to keep the guards from raising the alarm...

Thanks.

AC :p

The best way to keep them from raising the alarm is to use hide on shadows or invisiblilty potion to get to the 2 guards in front of the door. Once you open the door they turn hostile and raise the alarm so before you open the door kill the two guards as fast as you can. If you take too long they will raise the alarm.

You could also use the staff of the magi and just equip it twice with one character... This way the 2 gaurds @ the gate turn hostile but if you keep the party back nothing happens, do the same with the golems... I never attempted to fight them, they lookd as burly as those AMUs in Matrix, but probably a lot better.... LOL those things didn't even give the pilots ANY armor! :)

Minor Spoiler

I didn't want to fight the golems either. The wise warrior knows when sneaking is better than brute force...

Speaking of the Staff of the Magi...
Just "blundered" into the Twisted Rune. (I was looking for the bridge lich - where does HE hang out?) Thank goodness I have read a couple of the strats to beat the Twisted Rune - it wasn't that hard...anyway, what is my point - I NOW am the proud owner of The Staff of the Magi. Woo Hoo !! (my PC is a mage) :p

Does this thing work with charges - or is it like the Energizer bunny? ;)

Thanks all

There is actually a feature in ToB which makes the guards see you even if you are invisible. It isn't a bug, exactly, because the idea is to make all drow see invisible characters, but it does make this quest nearly impossible to do non-violently.

There is a Baldurdash fix for it here: Drow Egg Guards Make Ust Natha Hostile Fix.

@Jack...

Is that a patch, or a "work around".

I don't really want to alter the game all that much - at least until I can figure out how to dload mods, and such (Soulefein can be IN your party???!!!)

MINOR SPOILER

Thanks. BTW - I surrounded them (while blue), drank invisi. potions and cracked them over the head while Ano. (in sanctuary)ran into the room and took the eggs - and closed the door :p

It's a patch. It doesn't really alter the game much. Here is a description from the README.TXT:

"The file UDEGGS.BCS contained in this archive is a modified version of the Baldur's Gate II: Throne Of Bhaal AI scripting for the Drow Egg Guards in the Temple of Lolth in Ust Natha. This file is intended as a bugfix.

It resolves a bug whereby the changes in the Drow being able to see invisible creatures in Throne Of Bhaal meant that it was nearly impossible to complete the quest to rescue Adalon's eggs without Ust Natha going hostile. the player is supposed to be able to complete this without killing them by being invisible, taking the eggs and leaving the egg chamber without other party members in their visible range. However with Throne Of Bhaal installed it was noticed that they were alerting Ust Matha and even talking to the player taking the eggs through the closed chamber door. They will now only react if a player character is visible to them nine seconds after the eggs are stolen."
