Need some advice...

Post by silent_assassin »

I'm new to this forum, I have reading a lot on it but haven't registred until now. I was wondering if you guys colud help me a little...
I play an Assassin, no ToB och Baldurdash yet. Since my favorite character in fantasy is Artemis Entreri, I have tried to copy him somewhat. So I have:

Assassin
Two-weapon
Level 14 currently
My assassin dual wields Daystar and Stiletto of Demarchess.
No armor. Cloak of protection +2 and Bracers of defence +3. That's about it. Any advices on weapons or items I can gather to toughen up my man?

Grateful for all help!
Cheers!

Why no armor? Using the Shadow Armor could really give you a boost to AC. Boots of stealth would probably also help, or the elven boot.

Getting stealth to like 125% early will probably be quite a key factor if you are soloing him as you then can sneak past almost all opponents and then back stab them :D

You might also want to consider some points into set trap as they become quite powerful in later levels....

I'm not soloing him. Sorry if I didn't say that from the start...
I'm not wearing armor because in my world you move slower if you do... I know it's silly but if I WOULD put on armor it would not be such a powerful item such as Shadow Armor.
Thank you!

hmm... from the description of the shadow armour it's an incredibly light garment and should not be much heavier than your winter coat.

When you are not soloing the build is not really important, you can do whatever you want to and still finish the game with ease IMO

a natural choice for assassin would be the Celestal Fury +3 katana, for some awesome backstabs.

something of a similar but weaker effect from a dagger +3, pixie prick

gnasher +2 club is cool for backstabing spellcasters, as it gives bleeding damage for a couple of rounds, when you don't want to waste Poson Weapon ability

good choice for off-hand weapons would be belm +2 scimitar amd kundane +2 short sword, which add an extra attack to the main hand weapon.

another good choice is arbane shortsword +2, which gives immunity to hold (ghouls, ghasts, liches) and stun (symbol stun, power word stun, mindflayers)

one of the MUST-HAVE items for a backstaber (which a duel-weilding assassin naturally is) is a cloack of non-detection, which lets you backstab thise annoying mages who cast True Sight as you approach. true sight does not dispell stealth+cloack of non-detection, but it dispells all forms of magical invisibilty, including invisibility/mislead+cloack of non-detection or stealth+3rd level mage spell, non detection. the only other form of invisibility not dispelled is SPOILER

boots of speed - self explanatory

ring of invisibility - for quick escapes after the backstab

staff of the magi+cloack of non-detection

END SPOILER

as to the armour issue, it is entirly up to you.

I don't know much about Artemis Entreri but if you don't want to wear armour, you could get a Ring of Gaxx - most powerful ring for non - mage character. Among other bonuses it gives you +2 to yours dice throws and AC. Solution how to find it and how to kill Kangaxx the Demilich you can find in many BG2 sites because this is one of the hardest quest in whole game
