I must be one of the few that have had a bug free romance with Jaheira  (maybe because my PC was also Druid lol!)

IIRC Dermin showed first in the Temple District, second in the Graveyard district and finally after resting at the Five Flagons in the Bridge District. He attacked me right inside the doorway on exit. I did not buy any keepsake locket and I do not yet have ToB...

Great post though Valecrion - considering the hundreds of posts on this buggy romance. :D

Would anyone be able to post the exact CLUAConsole commands and values for the Jaheira romance at the beginning of ToB? Or just lead me to a thread that has this information? Should the Lovetalk be 73? What about everything else like the Bodhi episode & that Dermin guy?

Actually, it's because confusion like this that prompted me to write the walkthrough. Jaheira's Keepsake locket as well as Jaheira getting cursed by Baron Ployer are NOT part of the romance. They occur only because you are in a romance with Jaheira but do not affect the romance in any way.

I actually read this in a note from one of the designers from Black Isle/Bioware ... so I'm pretty confident in it ...

People,

Does anyone know if:

1. There is an official ToB patch out yet, and

2. If said patch FIXES the Romance problems, especially the Dermin no-show problem. It gets tiresome reinstalling the games in order when I want to start a new game :(

Hello, old friend Polaris. There is no, IIRC, offiials patches for ToB, only betta. In the description no words on fixing gaming problems (Jaheira, 2-weapon + haste, Blade's spins), only some tech glitches so far. But that was yesterday, and today I have not been able to connect to Bioware site. Updating? I hope.

Just to give Polaris a boost, yes I've encounter your Dermin-no show bug with ToB as well. I ran SoA games many times, and about 4 to 5 times with Jaheira romance, I have NEVER EVER have any bugs with Jaheira romance(must be one of those lucky people), Dermin shows up when he is supposed to, no dialog loop, nada, and I've tried both with Baldurdash patch and not.

Given that I've never had problems with Jaheira romance, I considered myself an expert with it and didn't expect any problems when I installed ToB. Now the 1st time I tried to start over in SoA with expansion installed BAM! Dermin no show bug. I can practically vouch for Polaris' information. Something in ToB screwed up Jaheira's dialogs. I've tried every fix possible with tips from various homepages, nothing works. I can set DerminSpawn to 4 and CreateCreature("jadermin") to get him to talk, but then Jaheira doesn't leave group after resting, basically a lot of variales at set in that script and I can't find them all manually.

Right now, the only way to have a successful Jaheira romance and carry that to ToB is to uninstall everything and install just SoA only, play until you are done with Jaheira romance, then install ToB and keep playing.

I wouldn't put 100% faith in anything said by the designers ;) Lots of people have worked on loose bits and pieces of the game, and none of them seems to have all relevant information.

The Baron Ployer thingy also triggers if you are not romancing Jaheira (I got it with a female PC).

I've saved the game right after the battle with Dermin. The only "quests" I can go on now are the Hidden Compound, the temple district Guarded Compound, the Planar Sphere, and then some of the NPC quests (Anomen, Mazzy, Korgan, Viconia?). I've paused right after reloading - nothing. I've played the other quests - nothing. I've also saved the game right before rejoing Jaheira at the Harper's lair. Should I go back to that (oh, the horror) or can I save what I've got. BTW does anyone know how to get the D'Arnise Keep scenario to get rolling again if you missed the meeting with Rosenthall? (sp?)

i've had no probs with Jaheiras quest first time. NO PROBS AT ALL IN GAME. i had only the officual patch for BG2 (the first patch that came out). Then i downloaded some custom patch and replaced some override files. But i dont remember if the first time i've played "normal" (thats when jaheiras romance worked fine) i had that patch. Now after a month i have returned to he game again. I got newest patch 2.02.3037 and i think i than had some problems, so i unistalled the custom patch. But i think it didnt affect current game because i remember that it changed blade of roses (or something) but after i uninstalled the custom patch the b of roses was jus the same. So thats the time that Jaheiras romance locked. Now i have started new game to see what will be.

@All: I've got a problem with Elminster appearing at the end of the Jaheira romance/harper quest....so could any people that were successful with this romance please post the location of where Elminster appeared...(I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it???)....cheers!!

Edit: Sorry....did I say "Elminster"??? I meant Terminsel....

@Karembeu

For me he appeared in the government district in Athkatla. I suppose you can force him to appear, change the global variable TERMINSELAPPEAR to 2806879 (that number comes from my saved game immediately after he appears and it is just a countdown timer) and then enter a new area.

Ok, Manveru explains once again.... :(

1) There was no need in MHO to write all first sentences of romance dialogues here (but it is MHO as I said) - and also there are programs that could be used to view game resources like scripts, dialogues - so it is pointless to write all these dialogues - just check dowload section of www.teambg.com

2) ToB Jaheira romance scripts are load of horse droppings (at least for SoA part of game - I have no idea about ToB part)

3) Use my Jaheira romance bug fix that could be downloaded from my page - www.worldzone.net/games/manveru

4) The problems with ToB Jaheira romance is the result of not including my changes from Jaheira patch in ToB scripts, even when it was sent to Bioware two times as I suppose : by me and later with other bug fixes by Kevin Dorner.

Hrm, I think I did something wrong...After dialog 29, Dermin showed up, and Jaheira renounced her harper membership (?!). After, I tried sleeping (without the guards disturbing me, in an inn, in wilderness) without anything happening...so I left for Spellhold. To my surprise, I got a dialog there, but it's not in any of the romance lists: "I... I am sorry, but I need a moment to collect myself" ???

This is the next legendary Jaheira topic. Just like the one a few months ago "JAHEIRA ROMANCE ANSWERS ****SPOILERS GALORE****".

Manveru:

Clarification 1: I know you say that your patch works with ToB installed, but I have also read that I should back up the Jaheira.bcs or some such and then restore the old one prior to actually starting the ToB portion of the game. Respectfully, please clarify this...I am quite nervous about messing up my game since other than the Jaheira mess it seems to be running fairly smoothly finally.

Clarification 2: I am not having a romance with Jaheira, I just want her to get her darned pin (have played through twice and so far no go). Will this fix the broken Harper plot for non-romance games?

Clarification 3: If I install it now (have had first Dermin appearance and Reviane fight) will it fix my plot from this point forward, or will I have to load an earlier save game or change some variables with Shadowkeeper? If I have to change variables, could you spell out for the non-programmer type what variable to change and to what value?

Thanks in advance for your help.

As I said somewhere else : My patch has no influence on ToB part of game. ToB works in such a way that all SoA scripts work is ceased in ToB after starting Add-on (killing Irenicus) . What is more I know only about one variable connected with romance that is used in ToB (JaheiraRomanceActive). Lovetalk or others are NOT USED. Thus my patch will not mess up romance in ToB or other Jaheira's quests /interractions not connected directly with romance.
Clarification 2: I am not having a romance with Jaheira, I just want her to get her darned pin (have played through twice and so far no go). Will this fix the broken Harper plot for non-romance games?
If you wish only harper pin then actually my patch even makes it easier to obtain it without romance : I did the following thing in Jaheira.bcs -

1) The both cases (romance or not) are separated.
2) If player will fail in any moment of romance (Jaheira is no longer interested in romance) then Jaheira's quests are continued as it is the case of not romancing this NPC.
3) The most important difference between romancing or not case is that :

*in the first case Jaheira's quests are dependent on REAL TIME in everything - it means that Dermin wil not appear unless player has obtained strictly defined stage of romance where each dialogue show up every 0,5h (+ sometimes some additional requirements are fulfilled, like rest party outdoors). Thus there are no chance that Harper quests will progress faster that romance or vice versa.

*Case without romance is based on game time, thus whether player ends romance without success or didn't started it then after resting some time in Inns, woods, outdoors , etc. the Jaheira's quests will start (Xzar's quests, poisoned guy, Galvarey, etc...).

So the conclussion is : Yes it will fix Harper quests for non romance games.
Yes, it will fix harper plot on this stage.

One remark : If you wish to have Harper pin without romance then you have to remember that you will receive it only if your reputation is above 16 AFAIR (in case of romance thisn value is 10).

Manveru:

Most of us just want to play the game, we don't want to screw around with scripts, decompiling, hacks, cheats, overrides ... I'll just stop there.

When I was looking for some Jaheira answers I just wanted to play the game, not add some hack to get the game working how I *thought* it should work.

Unfortunately a quick synopsis of the romance was *not* around ... that is why I wrote this walkthrough. For those who desire a simple, complete and concise course of events this is it.
