Screenshot Command?

Post by Brachaesnethar »

Hopefully this is an easy question... while nosing around in the INI file for KOTOR (PC version, obviously) I found a toggle under the Game Options heading for "EnableScreenshots" which was set to 0 (off)... I re-set it to 1 (on)... but I don't know the actual command to TAKE screenshots.

Any ideas? I couldn't find it in the official documentation...

Print Screen button should be next to Scroll Lock and f12.

You can only take 1 at a time this way, and you need an image editing tool, press that, start a new image file, and then ctrl + v to paste the screen onto the image.

Yeh, I've been using Print-Screen to get screen captures so far, but that only gives me one image before I have to quit the game, paste into my image editor, crop and save.

The INI file has an EnableScreenShot toggle command line, which leads me to believe that I could hit, like F9 and it would automatically capture the screen and put it in the KOTOR directory with a sequential name so I could take LOTS of screenshots and then exit the game later to look at them.

I just don't know what the key command is to take screenshots. If there IS no command, why would they have an EnableScreenShot option in the INI file in the first place?

PS: Aha... I was just looking in my KOTOR directory and I found three new files with names of "KotOR0000.tga", "KotOR0000a.tga" and "KotOR0001.tga"... they are 3.5MB each, but I can't for the life of me remember which key I used to take the screenshots.

It's possible that after I set the EnableScreenShot toggle in the INI file, then when I pressed the Print-Screen button, it generated those files. May have answered my own question, looks like. :)

EDIT: Ya, the Print-Screen button takes screenshots... unfortunately it won't take screenshots during cut-scenes, so there I have to screen-capture one at a time. Better than nothing. ;)

There are a number of free screen capture software programs available for this purpose. These programs allow you to take repeated high quality screen captures with a simple two-button command. Some are prone to 'quirks,' however:

What's missing? ;)

if you want to jump out of the game, hit pause then hit the 'windows' key. that will bring you to the desktop and minimize the game. works awesome.
