Seems ScardyBob has finally made an appearance on Gamebanshee forums. I think all my harassing finally paid off. He’s familiar with D&D, but unfortunately his idea of good story in a D&D game is probably Neverwinter Nights. Maybe our Baldur’s Gate II-inspired storyline will compel him to mend his ways.

Welcome ScardyBob - hope you enjoy your stay here.
@CM. If you look at the map I've posted a link to, and look close (poor quality - have lost the high-detail map I had once), you will notice this Anarouch thingy is somewhat North and East of Calimshan.

Okay. I've finally got things sort of worked out now. For a map of the region, follow Rob-hin's link to a map of the Western Heartlands. As promised, the area is southwest of the Anarouch Desert, though not quite right next to it. For those of you who've played Dark Alliance, the region happens to be along the east side of the triangle formed by Baldur's Gate, the Sunset Mountains, and the Marsh of Chelimber. I know my intro lacks a reason for several high-level adventurers happening to be in the same area at the same time...I'll leave the individual motivations of it to you guys for now. I do have something in store, but if we waited for that to happen, the fun might not begin for another few weeks story-wise...
I figured you guys would want to start writing now.

Lost Souls: A bereft lover. A masterless familiar. Friends gone their separate ways. Time marches on, and destiny heralds the meeting of comrades old and new. Can they find what they're seeking? Or will the search bring them only more pain?
@Aegis: Does this mean you plan to post more than sporadically?
@all: Read Soulforge for additional backstory on Aegis's characters, if you haven't already.

Ah, I forgot to mention that Pedsgin is about 5-6 weeks travel (walking) from Athkatla. Add about 4 weeks to that if you're coming from Calimport. Keep in mind that these are just my guesstimations, based on remembered travel times in Baldur's Gate II. So give or take a factor of 10. Of course, this information is primarily aimed at Aegis and Xandax.
Also, I'll probably set the time passed since Athkatla II to about two months, which coincides with Aegis's timeframe as laid out in Soulforge.

@Xandax: Does Xandax enter the evening before or after Aerie's arrival (she arrived a few hours before dawn).

Hadn't thought of it? That seems somehow important.
However, it'd probably make the most sense if he arrived the evening before. Otherwise there's a good chance he would have bumped into Aerie when he came in.

@Aegis: Hmm...such knowledge on Virillis's part would have greatly altered the final battle in Athkatla II, I'd wager. Of course, then they probably would've both been dead by now.
@all: The next week and half will be crunch time for me, with finals and all, but I'll post as much as I'm able. I tried to compensate by posting often over the last few days.

*Rereads his own last post of Athkatla I* God my writing sucked there. It was probably for the best that you wrote it.

As promised I managed to get something up. I'll see if I can post something more later today or tomorrow. For now I wanted to wrap up what I already had going before I got myself entangled in something else.

@Aegis: Wait a minute...on the road? You do realize that the entirety of Athkatla II spanned only a few days... I can hardly believe that half a day has already passed. I would rethink your method of transportation.

The Arcane order is a well-established college of wizardry. Here, magic is taught an researched, and members benefit from from sharing their knowledge.
The order is well know arcoss the planes as it is one of the best magic schools around. It's common knowledge, but naturally not everybody knows about it.
The headquarter, Mathghamhna, is located on a island in the Moonsea and is very castle like.
Japheth Arcane is the chancellor and runs the college and directs it's reseach. Under him, there are the regents, they instruct apprentices and low level casters. They also advice Japheth.
The Orcer has a spellpool where members put spells in, these spells can be used by all the members, but they have to have an open spell space in their spells per day for that level spell. To use one spell, means the member has a debt per spell level.
