Accidentally killed Bolvyn Venim

Post by Ependeon »

I had just started the quest to become the Redoran Horator. I accidentally killed Bolvyn Venim before I was supposed to. The problem is that I did not get the message that I killed an important character and now I'm pretty much stuck because no one will vote for me and I can't duel Bolvyn Venim. If anyone knows how I can get out of this mess your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're on PC you may recall him by PlaceAtPC in console. You, most probably, are going to have to calm and bribe him to get him talking because recalled NPCs usually have the same disposition and attitude as at the moment of death. Of course, there are console commands to correct it, too, even before PlaceAtPC, however since i've never used them i just do not remember them, try see Construction Set Help.

SPOILER PROBABLY

Isn't he supposed to die anyway? If you killed him and didn't get an error message, then it doesn't matter. Their is one main guy that declaires you Hortator of each house. If you kill him, you are anally @$%*! their buddy. At least for telvanni hortator, don't kill the guy you levitated to. For redoran or hlaalu, don't remember.

I was never declared Hortator or Nereverine. I got up to the Moon and Star ring and defeated Dagoth Ur. Then You are automatically declared Nerevarine and Hortator and you don't have to do all that running around.

He is not in the list of vital NPC just like some are here in spite of fact they have ever nothing to do with the main quest (as that mad Nord in a tomb somewhere North of Molag Maar). Developers are human the same way as you and i are, so they are bound to make mistakes.
If you are going the stright way skipping certain trials, it's up to you and certainly possible. However if you are going to fulfill prophecy :D you should kill Venim in right time and right place. Moreover if you're going to become Archmaster first (IMHO, you cannot do it if you're already Hortator, so you're going to miss just a bit of adventuring and challenge).
The main storyline, IMHO, is just a bit too stright and obvious, all sidesteps and distractions are what's making the game's charm. It's a game one's enjoying playing, not winnig, IMHO.
