SoU Interlude: Mysterious Machine......

OK, I'm in the end of the interlude, and I have just freed the sphinx and answered all three of his riddles. I wrote down the "recipes" for the power stones. The problem is; I load the items into the urns and then "Nothing seems to happen." This is the list of combos I have tried....
offensive [1st urn] defensive [2nd urn]
fairy dust* 1 then 2 ---- [all i have] ------ 2 then 1
slaad tongue* 10 then 6 ------------------ 6 then 10
dragon blood* 1 then 2 --- [all i have] ----- 2 then 1
belladonna* 4 then 6 ---------------------- 6 then 4
ruby** 1 then 2 -- [all i have] ------------- 2 then 1

as you can hopefully see, I tried the amount for offensive in just that urn, defensive in just that urn. then switched them. none worked according to manufacture.

Do I have to do something besides putting 6 belladonnas [etc] in the defensive urn [etc] and then clicking on the machine?

Maybe it can be usefull for you - I*ve not tested creating something in that machine.

Anyway, for those of you who want all the possible options, here they are (and again – BOTH urns must be full with valid components, but you don’t have to use the same type in each urn – you can put a ruby in one and fairy dust in the other):
(Note: I might have the left/right confused so pay attention in the game...)


Offensive (right) urn:
-1 Ruby: Fire damage against one target
-3 Rubies: Fire damage against multiple targets
-4 Belladonna Roots: Slow nearby enemies
-1 Dragon Blood: Wind Burst
-10 Slaadi tongues: Death spell around the user
-1 Fairy Dust: Stun nearby enemies

Defensive (left) urn:
-1 Ruby: Spell Mantle
-3 Rubies: Greater Spell Mantle
-6 Belladonna Roots: Haste
-1 Dragon Blood: Greater Stoneskin
-6 Slaadi tongues: Energy Buffer
-1 Fairy Dust: Improved Invisibility
