Problem whit levelin up

I would like to know what is the reason that my sorceror cannot advance to level 18 he has 295000 exp and needs 3000000 at level 18. my exp doesent go over 295000 what is weird, does enybody else have this problem

could it be it that i started the game over whit my level12 sorceror and imported him and stardet the game all over again does this have eny effect to the game?

BGII: SoA has a level cap, to keep players from becoming too powerful. There are ways to remove this cap, one of which involves picking up Throne of Bhaal (raises the cap to level 40), another of which someone should be able to help you with here.

Yes, you can remove the experience cap in Shadows of Amn. Download the file called "Baldur's Gate II XP Cap Disabler" from here, unzip it, and put it in your /OVERRIDE folder.

If you want to play a really high level character, I suggest that you install the expansion pack, Throne of Bhaal, which provides new challenges and adds new abilities to the game for high level characters. That way, you can not only max out your character, you can also prove your mettle.
