Is this considered cheating?
I agree with the idealogy that if you dont think its cheating, then why do you care what other's say...
HIGH Stats make the game easier for you, so its what you do with them
BTW I mean in general they make it easier for you, I don't mean make a mage with 25 strength and 10 int
And as for using tomes cause your character is supposedly a god-spawn. If that is what makes you fell justified for increasing your stats, go ahead and do it.
LOGICALLY it would make sense... right?

urm...what about this...
Tricks with the "Ugly Stick"
Gotta love the rod of terror(you need to kill the lich in the hidden room in the inn at the city gates) ...you give it to a npc who annoys you, but you had them along for a specific quest or reward, like Cernd or anoweenie, once they have outlived their usefulness, and have them attack things...you see, the rod randomly drains charisma, (hence the ugly stick) and if they use it long enough, they eventually die horribly of self inflicted uglification(is there even such a word???) of attribute drain...this is always good for a laugh...but someone, came up with an even more evil and truly sick exploit for the rod....
give it to your pc....yes, you!!! and start attacking things, like goblins and other low level creatures, and wait until your charisma drops to around 2 or 1, then equipp the ring of human influence...this will SET your charisma to 18, keep using for a long time after, to make sure your charisma drops BELOW 0, then take off the ring, and the game engine which does not permit a negative attribute score, will wrap around the negative value of your charisma score, and you end up with a charisma of 25....is this evil or what????? yes, i know you can edit your attributes via shadow keeper, but it just warms up my heart in knowing i uglified (really, is there such a word???) my pc to godlike good looks.....
you can do it within the game, and without editing...

So as long as you do it "in game" its not cheating, but exploiting the nifty bugs that BG has to offer?
What if you say "by running through the game many times I can get my character's stats to 25... Its going to happen, so why don't I just use Shadowkeeper or CLUA:Console to modify it now and save myself the trouble?"
Why delay the inevitable?
Also would using CLUA console be cheating, since thats "in game" too?

urm... its more fun and challenging and fun...did i mention it was fun??? to find and discover and learn about cheese...since most of them require experimentation, and some thought and thinking and are elegant...that's why i still cheese...its not a brutal hack and slash anymore, i sorta enjoy the judo aspect of cheese...using the enemy's own strength against it, exploiting a weakness in their AI, and doing something completely unexpected with an item...a use the designers never in their wildest imagination intended...
interestingly enough, cheesing is like meta-magic...
magic over magic...magic is study of arcane lore, and using esoteric techniques to trick, befuddle, and utterly obliterate an enemy..like cheese...i guess that's why i still cheese...

It's cheating, it's not cheating, and it's taking advantage of holes inadvertantly left in the game--take your pick, folks. Just don't tear each other up because your definitions aren't identical.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I'm one with a normal copy, but once the NPC banter pack comes out I'm going to put that in to get more BG2-like interaction between NPCs.Originally posted by Ekental
Ahh... I see, so I wonder how many people have a "normal" copy of BG on their comp now, I would expect most have edited all sorts of thigns in theirs and installed many packs and such... just wondering
