Aerie Romance - Minor Spoiler

Post by Idioteque »

If I want to do the Aerie romance all the way through TOB ending storylines am I supposed to sleep with her when she offers? I have heard you are supposed to decline but will that end the romance talk?

No, you shouldn't. She'll thank you for holding back, later.

It's probably best not to sleep with her. But actually, it doesn't make any difference whether you sleep with her or not. Either way, the next day, she'll tell you that she's not ready for that kind of relationship, and the romance will seem to be over. Sleeping with her won't make her leave you; the problem is that life with you is just too overwhelming for her, and there's nothing you can do about it. But if it's any consolation, she really does love you. If you sleep with her, she won't regret it.

Of course, all of that depends on how tactfully you handle the situation. She will dump you if you say the wrong things. But as long as you say the right things, the global variable called "AerieRomanceActive" will stay at the value of 2, which technically means that the romance is still active. However, there won't be any more love talks until you reach the Tree of Life. At that point, Aerie will reiterate that she loves you even though she doesn't know what the future holds.

In case you're worried about it, the relationship will resume in Throne of Bhaal. Aerie will decide that since your destiny won't permit you to settle down anytime soon, there's no use waiting for "the right time". And boy, are you in for a surprise. :)

Specifically, there is ONE option that enables you to sleep with her and still continue the romance into TOB. However, I consider that a bug so in Aerie's SOA flirt packs, more options enable you to keep the romance running. (I consider it a bug because the coders didn't set RomanceActive to 3, which they always do if a choice has been made that ends the romance. They simply never set it to 2, and that's what TOB checks for. Plus which, if you do the HD conflict, it could have been set to 2 considerably earlier.)

Sounds like those coders are just as indecisive as Aerie. :)
