I put a fair bit of work in during chapter one gaining ownership of the laid bare inn and joining the cloaktower guild as well as dropping a load of gear i gained in the temple along with the henchmen.
Is there any way of getting to neverwinter city once I am in chapter 2? I want to be able to buy enchanted goods from the cloaktower guild and change my henchmen.
I can teleport back to the ritual chamber but i cant seem to get out of there other than the portal aribeth is holding open.
You're not in chapter two yet mate. You're at the end of chapter one. No henchman changing, no new items.
Spoiler: Highlight to read: Go fight Desther in the Helm's Hold. Beat him, and you make it into chapter two.

Even if it is still Chapter 1, you can not go back. You will notice, that all quest items for Chapter 1 disappeared from your inventory, once you are in the Helm's Hold area.
You have to load an older savegame to get your dropped stuff and an other henchman.
