I don't know why the game crashes in your friends case but it has nothing to do with windows xp, I know cause I have it and it runs fine off of it.

XP will not run some DOS-based games, but Arcanum should run perfectly well. I've played it on an XP.

I've been running Arcanum on an XP system, and I haven't had any problems. Maybe there's something wrong with your copy of the game.

That could be a matter of driver updates or behind-the-scenes programs, grabbing memory and memory locations the game requires.

could be the graphics card.....the game looks like a drawing but it EATS the graphics memory...32megs minimum i'd say......

Or a problem with Direct X. My old Dell hated that, but my new machine is fine with it. Also, if he's hacked the files to use the stat-editor, he might have to reinstall.
